Post-reunion Headcannons I’ve been trying to weave into fic plots but am just too busy and tired to accomplish rn:
- A few months into their new living arrangements (aka together in Paris), Tony and Ziva start seeing a therapist. After the initial honeymoon period, things started to get a little toxic between them. Snide remarks, occasional fights and lots of low blows. They admit they need help when Tony walks into Tali’s bedroom to find a picture she had drawn of the family (during one of her own therapy sessions because lord knows the girl needs it) ripped to shreds. Yeah. Time to figure this out.
- so couple’s therapy. Yikes. That poor therapist, right? She gets two people with a long and absolutely insane history who are hellbent on being together and oh yeah there’s a child to consider as well. But the woman is a miracle worker. She suggests they find a way to become partners again. Said that seemed to be a good way to channel their energies into something productive that they could both take pride and ownership in.
- so they start their own PI business. Together. (L.J. Investigations. Gibbs rolls his eyes at the name). And wow does that work. They get to pick their own hours. Pick their clients. Never have to get too involved or go too deep. They trade off night shifts whenever necessary so that there is always someone home with Tali and they each get alone time. But they also spend a whoooooole lotta time together. Stakeouts. Discovery. It’s crazy what simply sitting across from each other and working does for their relationship.
- They mostly expose infidelity and petty theft. And it’s romantic to these two knuckle heads. They crack jokes about lousy husbands and wives and then go home to their cushy flat and crawl into bed together. What idiots. Soft, lovely idiots.
- it takes less than a year of working L.J.I. before Ziva ends up pregnant again. Because once they’re partners, everything starts to work itself out. And they communicate. And they have lots of sex. And it’s the happily ever after they always wanted. And that they frEAKING DESERVE THANKS
But: uh oh. Ziva knows the pregnancy is gonna be tough. It runs in her family. She was surprised she even delivered Tali the first time. So she’s a little scared and Tony is trying everything to be supportive but he wants this kid more than he’ll ever admit. And she wants it too. So she decides that she wants to go to the same OB who took care of her through her first pregnancy. In Israel. So it’s decided that the DiNozzo clan is moving to the homeland for a year so they can safely and securely have this baby.
But what about the business, you say? Well, funny you should ask. There’s a certain team leader back in the states whose looking to make some life changes. He’s much too squirley to retire. But perhaps a shift to the private sector could do him some good. And a year in Paris with his new woman doesn’t sound like a bad transition. And, I mean, his name is already on the building.
