〘⛓〙 Was that his old captain mocking him? No, that would be giving the man far too much credit. Gin was growing weary of the interrogations. Doubtful Shinji was here for that though. The serpent eyed the visored over his shoulder to carefully judge. Of course he hardly had a say in who visited him. Shame those that did were hardly any fun.

The only reprieve he’d gotten was Rangiku, but even that visit had limited conversation. Far too much she couldn’t be told. Gin held onto his secrets well. Let Captain Hirako make his attempt, if that is what he so desired.

After a moment of silence between them Gin turned fully to grant the other the same plastered grin he had back then. It was more practiced but was beginning to fray. Hard to keep all composure surrounded by cold steel with a reiatsu collar around his neck. Left sleeve folded in on itself to tuck onto what could be considered a shoulder.

Voice echoed on the walls with the same sing-song teasing as always. “Did ya come all this way just ta see me, Captain Hirako~? We do ‘ave ta stop meetin’ like this.”

               “ What other reasons do I got to come down all this way into this great underground prison? ” Shinji retorts lightly in return, hardly reacting to the sly, singsongy taunt of the prisoner. He pauses briefly in retrospect; actually, that isn’t entire true. There is another possible reason lurking within the deep, dark underbelly of this soulless facility, but...one matter at a time. “ Can’t I visit my old subordinate, ruminate over the good old times, check in upon yer welfare? ” The words seem taunting, but the tone and delivery is just dry, as if he doesn’t even actually have the intention to rub the other’s predicament in his face as much as he can.

          The physical toll of living in this maximum security prison is evident, even from casual inspection. Shinji knows not if other methods of persuasion have been used on Gin to try to convince him to sing, but apparently, the serpent’s lips are sealed tight. That is not the aim of today’s visitation, anyway, but Gin is free to assume otherwise. Besides, once proclaimed guilty by Central 46, the reasons no longer matter. Of that, Shinji is all too clear on. 

Gin will gladly give him something to judge.

Ba-dump.

That loud single heartbeat was the only sound in Izuru’s world as the sudden silence cut off even that previously steady rhythm of his breath, leaving everything seemingly frozen in time. The ground beneath him quickly turned to freezing, it’s cold touch gathering to the soles of his feet before starting to creep up, efficiently absorbing the heat from that bruised body as it travelled. Even when there was an attempt to move, to take in air and blink, nothing worked. Those widened, blue eyes were simply glued to that spot where a familiar figure had supposedly stood just then, taking in any and every information there was to gather. Yet of course there was nothing there.

“Gi—” the name started to form into the still air, though the lieutenant couldn’t even recognize his own voice in that moment. It sounded distant, hollow, but also heavy and full of… something. Something he had no capacity to understand in his shaken state of mind. Meanwhile the coldness taking over was leaving him trembling, but even that was hard to register. It didn’t quite feel real.

Ba-dump.

As the next flush of blood finally rushed into the blond’s veins, a shaky, quick inhale managed to bring a sliver of life back into him. Some fresh blood cells and oxygen did miracles on the flight or fight system that suddenly kicked in, making itself known through the feeling of his stomach dropping and senses heightening to their maximum capacity. Picking up the slack of his emotional side, the physical functions went straight to overdrive; his heart rate increasing quickly, breathing following suit right away and sweat forming on his palms. It was such a contrast to the previous stillness that the sensations caught Izuru off-guard, pretty much jolting his mind back to reality.

Lifting an arm, the still trembling man clutched his chest while averting his gaze from that one cursed spot and lowering it to the ground. What the hell was his problem? Ichimaru had been gone for some time already and there really wasn’t any reason to still hang onto the memory of him like this. Everyone had moved on and no one even mentioned the traitor’s name nowadays – hell, not even the captain’s office had any bits or pieces from that time any more. Everything had changed. Everything. The third divison. And even Izuru.

A drip of blood trailed down the pale skin of the lieutenant’s chin slowly, the man not even realizing that he had bit down on that lower lip of his hard enough to break the skin. No, he had his work cut out for him just by keeping that staggering body standing while the exploding mass of emotions cut on his insides and made a nest within his ribcage. It was way more painful and terrifying than just any busted lip. It was almost too much to bear.

But Izuru had moved on. He had changed. He was stronger than this.

“Could say the same thing ‘bout a traitor like you.” Oh, he ached to punch the slimy bastard again. Bury his blade in his gut and watch him bleed out like a stuck pig... but knew he was lucky enough to get that one hit in.

That or Gin had let him.

Look, it's perfectly fine. Gin just decided Shinji's desk was the perfect place to take a nap. Not causing trouble, yet. Don' question why. Just wanted to visit his old captain. Yeah, yeah that's it. A simple, innocent visit.

          Who let this mangy stray in? Who? Without hesitation, he strolls forwards and kicks the leg of the chabudai, hard enough that it ensures that Gin slides off the table and lands on the tatami instead. Talk about a rude awakening. 

"WHAT THE FUCKIN' HELLL?" She roared, stomping about with the head half of the creepy doll someone has managed to give her.

Except that she knows exactly who that someone is. For she can sense that slimy ass reiatsu anywhere and she knows it belongs to Gin. That creepy ass former damn third seat-- how dare he look down on her cuz he grew a lil tall?!
