Underrated Lucien moment.
I feel like whenever Lucien gets discussed in The Originals, it's almost always for one of three reasons: people criticizing him for becoming the Upgraded Original because he "cheated", people bringing up Cami's death because of how it affected Klaus eventhough it wasn't any different from what Klaus or his siblings have done, or people talking about the Beast serum and how nothing should've beaten the orginals eventhough it wasn't a rule that the first makes it the strongest.
But one of my favorite Lucien moments happens before any of that, and I think it's one of the most underrated scenes in the entire franchise. In Season 3 episode 2 after being bitten by Jackson, Lucien casually pulls out a vial and heals himself.
It's such a brief moment that I think a lot of fans forget it even happened or maybe they do bit it's mostly his upgraded self people usually think first but I absolutely love it. Regarding the whole cure for werewolf bite in the first place people spend so much time talking about Klaus being the cure for werewolf venom, yet I rarely see anyone acknowledge that Lucien developed his own solution through years of research, laboratories, and scientists.
To me, that's one of the coolest accomplishments we ever see from a non-witch character and more than that, I love what it implies about that universe. It gives us a glimpse of supernatural biology interacting with science and how Lucien wasn't just using vampirism for enhanced strength, speed, compulsion, or immortality he was studying it, experimenting with it, and trying to push beyond its built-in limits.
That's also why I find discussions about the Mikaelsons' power a little frustrating at times. I mean their incredible abilities ultimately come from Esther's immortality spell (their strength, durability, ability to compel other vampires, and near-invulnerability) are features of the magic that created them that again ester gave to them.
Those traits weren't inventions or discoveries on their part they were part of the package they received when they became the first vampires. Lucien's werewolf-bite cure is different it wasn't simply handed to him by the nature of vampirism, he invested resources, conducted research, and created something new that expanded what seemed possible in that world.
Whether someone loves or hates Lucien I think that achievement deserves far more recognition. Even before the Beast serum, he was already proving that knowledge and experimentation could reshape the supernatural world and honestly, I wish The Originals had spent even more time on that aspect of his character.
Watching someone use science to understand and manipulate vamprism was fascinating and for me, that quiet scene where he heals himself from a werewolf bite remains one of the smartest and most overlooked moments in the series.
