Today, the #beardedrunningtrucker would like to talk about #Failure a lot of people wouldn’t consider finishing any marathon a failure, nor would I. I’m proud that, with the support of friends, family, a great coach, and the best partner a man could wish for, I finished the #ScotiabankCalgaryMarathon in a time of 3:14:19. It was my third ever marathon, exactly 12 months after my first. I’ve come a long, long way in that year, and I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. But I had a #Goal and that was to qualifications for #Boston2019 I failed. I couldn’t finish the race as strongly as I would’ve liked, and in the back 10km I lost all real ability to push! I came in 20lbs above the weight I really wanted to be at, I missed out on around two weeks of training mid-cycle (my own choice/fault), and I picked up an injury making my first ever #Podium a few weeks out from the race. I take full responsibility for this failure, and will take every step to make sure I have learned from it! Right, now that’s out of the way, on to the next challenge. I’m signed up for #EdmontonMarathon mid-August. I will use my experience of Calgary marathon to grow, and to improve...never have I been passed in the last 5km of a big race, I am the one who does the sprint finishes, I am the one who beats you at the line. You’re right, the (stubbly) #beardedrunningtrucker has stopped wearing clothes...the weather in #FernieBC #PostFalls #Idaho has been incredible! I’m pretty sure I’ve not been this tanned since my Mam had a subbed circa 1999! Also, don’t let the #AveragePace fool you. I was running sub-4:08s on my #Intervals it was a 6*(1600m@<6:40per mile, 400m recovery) with 15mins #Warmup and #CoolDown feltreally strong and was way under the times, but the heat got to my as usual. #Runners #TruckFit #TruckersWhoRun #CalgaryMarathon #evandoesnthaveinsta (at Post Falls, Idaho)

The #beardedrunningtrucker has never had quite as serious a #HamstringInjury as the one I picked up in his last #Race it’s affecting every aspect of my #Stride but I pushed through the niggle today. #OverUnder 15min #Warmup 5*(1km@4:00/1:00rec/2km@4:30/1:00rec) 15min #CoolDown there was a #Headwind often reserved for the #Prairies during a #Chinhook and at times it was #effort > #speed but I didn’t shirk it! What a Saturday for the ‘not-so’ #beardedrunningtrucker (had a bit of a shaving malfunction). A brilliant night at the #Ballet the show was called #AllOfUs and was based on the music of the phenomenal talent #TheTragicallyHip we also filled our faces with some fantastic #Mexican food in the form of #Tortas and #Tacos which we needed after our morning races! Rebecca was very strong in the #10km and I got a first #Podium of my adult life in the #MECrace3 #HalfMarathon 3rd place!
