Some subspecies of Beachcombers! There'll be more, but introducing these ones in the meantime!
Scallops- Usually models, for ads and photography purposes. Their big, fan-like shells tend to make them popular and for some individuals, that can get to their head. Scallops working in the model industry can be either too confident or not enough- but they generally hide either of these from their employers.
Mussels- Usually has religious occupations. From nuns to priests, or even choir singers, mussels are dedicated to keeping their religion(s) alive during modern times. They tend to worship old sea gods, and the churches are made out of ancient shells, bigger than the average shell house Beachcombers live in (which is equal to a small two story house).
Abalones/pāua shells- Usually lapidarists (gemcutters). Usually very wealthy due to Beachcombers having jewelry held high in their societies. Abalones look for gemstones, rare shells and the like and usually carves or simply polish them for others to use. The sheer abundance of materials on the planet makes jewelry cheaper than it is for us, and it's more durable naturally (the planet makes gemstones constantly)- but Abalones do their best to do their work sustainably.
Seastars- Usually entertainers, for TV or smaller events like weddings. Very popular and versatile in their activities- singers, comedians, actors or TV stars, Seastars usually love attention and being under spotlights. They tend to hide negative emotions from others. Recognizable with a lack of wings, their five fingers and very big hands. The webbing between their arms and body remplaces wings.
Urchins- Usually blacksmiths. They fashion weapons for fishing and hunting purposes, but can also create for decoration. They can use one of their own spines (they regrow fast) or create from animal shells. They can be seen as harsh/cold when first meeting them, but Urchins tend to have sweet sides they do their best to hide. They want to be seen as tough!
Nautilus- Usually historians. They're part of the ancient kind of Beachcombers, that are usually the leaders of their communities. Nautili aren't generally 'old enough' to be leaders (Nautiloids are old enough though) despite them usually being a century old or more. So Nautili work to preserve history, both with writing and verbal tales and folklore. They can be pretty introverted but still friendly.
Corals- Usually gardeners. The Beachcombers' islands once having been an ocean, corals had to adapt to air and did so very well- to the point where they remplace plants. So Beachcombers' homes and/or gardens can be decorated with various, more or less big and/or colorful corals. Some of them can be as big as trees! So they tend to need some tending to, and Coral Beachcombers tend to dedicate themselves to selling and taking care of others' gardens. They're very knowledgeable about corals, since they're tied to them biologically themselves.
Ammonites- Usually painters. Ancient, but too numerous to be leaders, these Beachcombers tend to make art for people to enjoy, usually as decoration. They have a distinct, traditional yet colorful style- it's similar to ancient murals and hieroglyphs, with the style differing from individual to individual depending on where they're initially from. Ammonites are generally centuries old, but younger individuals exist. Their shells are usually pyritized/opalized. Note that this design is adapted from a character i adopted by this artist!
Barnacles- Usually architects. They can create cement from their 'hair' to aid in construction or repair. Barnacles are very creative, and can easily adapt giant shells into homes for fellow Beachcombers. They're usually very calm and tend to 'go with the flow'. They tend to hide the upper half of their face, because they have three eyes, and the third (being smaller) is very sensitive to light.
