I’ll Light Your Way Home by BeaArthurPendragon, binding by DCB Bindery (dontcallmebree)

Summary:

Two lost Vietnam vets find each other in a Hell's Kitchen gay bar one hot September night. This is how they find their way home.

Specs: Straight back bradel binding, gold leather headbands, 295 pages, B6, purple made endpapers.

When choosing a proper binding project, this series was an easy pick. Soft, grounded, and full of sweet melancholy, I have not stopped thinking about this universe since I read it the first time around.

Thanks to @beaarthurpendragon for letting me bind this wonderful series!

On the process: Many mistakes were made but I’m delighted with how this binding turned out! I particularly loved being able to typeset epigraphs and matching each of the five parts to a corresponding illustration of flowers for its introductory title page.

Made endpapers for some reason took longer than it should to get my head around, the gold leather headbands aren’t perfect, and trimming the textblock took years off my life but at least lessons were learned. We’re not talking about the casing in, especially not the fact that it’s crooked.

Very pleased with my first DCB Bindery project!

1969!Stucky series: Last year, Buck Barnes came home from Vietnam with a bad back and a prosthetic arm named Roz–and with nothing left to lose, he let the GI Bill take him to college as far away from his closeted life in Indiana as possible: New York City. When a gorgeous blond square looking lost as a lamb walks into the gay bar where he works on the weekends, he’s only thinking about tonight. He never expected to find himself wishing for a tomorrow, too. 

Then she rose to her feet, slinging the bag over her good shoulder, and followed Fallira past the now burning pyre into the silent shelter of the trees, Jamen at her side.

This is the last line of chapter twelve of my book, the Lost Lahsrí, called The First Betrayal. The she is protagonist Nyra :)
