⚠️ PLEASE HELP BRING SUPPLIES TO BRITISH COLUMBIANS DEVASTATED BY FLOODING ⚠️
So I’m sure a few people are aware of the devastating flooding that’s happening all around my province right now, and I’m hoping some people might want to help?
My dad, Shaun Heaps, runs the West Coast Pilot Club and, since last Tuesday, has been organizing and volunteering the clubs planes, helicopters, and willing pilots to fly supplies and passengers from Langley all the way out to / from Hope, Merrit, Princeton, Lillooet, etc. The planes fly from first to last light every day, dropping off donated goods, food from local soup kitchens, and flying passengers to make sure they make their appointments, receive medical help, and get to safe places they can stay.
My dad is paying for everything out of pocket, both his credit and debit cards are maxing out everyday just for the fuel of the aircrafts. Just yesterday (Monday, Nov. 22/2021) the fuel alone was over $15,000 for all 24 planes and 2 helicopters (one flight to Merritt [almost half an hour flight] and back costs about $300, and multiple planes are doing that multiple times and farther throughout the day). That $15,000 doesn’t even cover the constant maintenance for the planes that’s needed because they’re flying heavy loads nonstop for a week in not the best weather.
Last I checked, another storm is supposed to hit BC before the end of the week, and the planes can only fly in good conditions. PLEASE help my dad and his volunteers get supplies out to communities before more devastation wreaks.
I know it’s hard for people to spare some money right now, and I’m not asking you to give something if you can’t, but please, B.C. is fucking hurting right now; many stores are already out of food, major crops and livestock are being lost, power is shutting down in many places, our damn highways are washing away in the water. Anything that can be given is a major major help, and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart that chooses to help.
Donors and pilot volunteers can reach my dad at 604-866-6705
He’s also hoping to collect cash to help cover the costs for fuel for the pilots
