This is spoilers for end of shift two and a scene in shift three!!!
Theory : BB and Red Biker are either the same person or know each other.
- In a scene where we are BB POV, he meets ( or meets again ) our “nosy neighbor”. This neighbor tells him how a biker with a red helmet use to come around MC’s door. BB didn’t seem jealous at all which is surprising. He didn’t even get bothered by the fact someone was around his MC’s door and his first words after the neighbor told him was “Mine’s black.” Which seems like a funny choice of words. Like why didn’t he ask more about the biker or if MC was okay. The only thing he questioned was when the neighbor said the Red biker was dangerous. Even after the neighbor told him though he would just stand by the door like a creep, BB seemed like more defending him like saying “Maybe he was having a bad day,” instead of being worried. The only time he got shocked or like quiet was when the neighbor said “Mc didn’t like it. Poor girl, she’s probably glad he’s gone.” BB in this moment didn’t feel seem like he felt empathy at all just hurt. This is probably because RB was him, and he didn’t like how MC felt discomfort by his company. Like when you choose to snicker at lanes comment when they were fighting, he seemed like that kind of hurt. Like disappointed. When he’s feeling sad I feel like he just gets quiet like he did in this scene. When you also click the door of the neighbors apartment ( before the neighbor stepped out and saw him ) it shows BB thought the neighbor couldn’t mind his business. Obviously it’s not a surprise BB stalks MC but it’s clear him and the neighbor met before. The reason why the neighbor didn’t recognize him is because BB looks like a different person. Same reason why MC couldn’t remember him at all but it’s clear they have met before. Maybe they met before when BB was RB.
-Plus a scene in shift 3 shows how MC was shocked he knew she hated blood. MC can’t even recall the memory why but it seemed like he remembered exactly why and she only told Lane about the blood ( at least that we know) The only people who were supposed to knows about MC’s blood fear is RB and Lane. Unless BB was stalking her long enough to notice ( because it seems like he’s always watching honestly ) or because he was the one to cause it. Like Red biker did.
- The only reason it could be someone he knows is because the final scene before the shift ends on shift three we see Red biker says “You won’t even do it for him?” ( or depending on the route you get his name in place of “him” ) “For me?” This could show how they are two different people but he could just be referring to himself in second person.
I don’t know but I NEED to figure out more about RB. I could be overthinking but there’s no way they aren’t the same person.
I had to redo this so many times because it kept deleting 😔✌️

Has Laly ever confirmed that BB got his scar during his army years?
I don’t think she has, but please correct me if I’m wrong. If it has never been confirmed, I think there may be a stronger possibility that the scar happened much earlier.
Take all of this with a grain of salt because I could be completely wrong. Wall of text.
There are many details in BB’s way of speaking that make me think of this, but I can’t include everything because that would spoil his whole route. Also, Tumblr’s stoopid image limit won’t let me add that many screenshots, so y’all have to play it and find those details yourselves eh.
One reason I’m not fully convinced by my theory is that when MC asked BB what stayed with him the most, he said “my face.”
I’m not sure if he meant his face was what stayed with him most from the army, or from his whole life. So I still can’t tell when he got his scar.
Laly said:
“I have no idea. xD People usually love characters with scars, but I don’t qualify BB’s scars as ‘good-looking’ scars. Part of his face is heavily damaged, he’s missing a piece of his ear (😏)… bro looks like he got eaten alive by dogs fr. But like his boss said, that whole physical appearance thing shouldn’t matter right? 😔”
That description makes the injury sound severe and animal like. His face was heavily damaged, and he lost part of an ear. Laly also said that he squints a lot and can’t wink. Lowk, maybe he just doesn’t know how to wink, but it could also be connected to the facial injury.
This is why I think the bear story might be more important than it first seems.
BB mentioned training with his dad when he was 7, and he also mentioned running away when he saw a bear. Even though MC pointed out that they live in a city, BB still reacted strongly to the idea. That could just be fear, but it could also suggest that the bear incident was traumatic. If he was attacked by a bear as a child, it would explain both his scars and why bears still affect him.
It could also explain why his dad saw him as a “failure.”
BB said that his family has different priorities from his. He also said that people care less about his first name and more about his last name because it carries weight. That makes me think his father’s side may come from a traditional military family, a highly religious family, or both. His family name may have status in Norway, while BB himself was expected to carry that reputation.
If he was injured during “training” with his dad, his dad may have viewed the incident as weakness instead of protecting him. BB’s scar could have become a visible reminder of what his family considered failure. That could be why he was pressured so much to live up to expectations afterwards.
Maybe his dad, brothers or both had important positions in the Norwegian military. If BB’s dad already saw him as a failure, he may not have wanted him in the Norwegian army. BB joining could have felt like proof that his dad failed to mould a “proper” soldier. BB did mention that he was much skinnier back then too.
Could that be why he said Norway army did not want him?
“Hey! Can you even lift a woman’s purse?”
The US Army may have been easier for him because nobody there knew his family name, his past or what happened to him. He could start over, even if he said it wasn’t easy.
That could also be why he doesn’t use his name much anymore. Maybe he doesn’t feel connected to it because it brings back memories of his family, expectations and trauma. Moving somewhere else may have made him feel like the weight of that name was finally lifted.
Maybe that’s also why he doesn’t correct people about his nationality or tell people his stories. He’s afraid that if he shares too much, people will recognize the details, connect the dots and figure out who he really is or where he comes from. Being mistaken as fully German might feel safer because it creates distance between him and the reputation attached to his Norwegian family name.
But he still prefers MC to call him W because his mom named him that. Maybe W is the part of his name that still feels like his own. Maybe his mom used to say it gently or affectionately, which is why he doesn’t completely hate it.
I don’t know what his relationship with his mom was like before. Based on what Laly said, it seems neutral now, but maybe they were once close and something caused them to grow apart. Or maybe she is no longer in the picture.
So maybe W is still a part of him, while M belongs to his dad, his brothers and the family legacy. It’s an overpowering name that feels unbalanced in his life and takes away his own identity. In Norway, he may have lived under the shadow of his dad and brothers instead of being allowed to be himself.
That could also explain why he said it wasn’t the first time people had mistaken his identity. Maybe he has a twin, or at least a brother who looks enough like him that people confuse them from behind. It could even be that people mistook him for his dad, but that seems less likely.
It could also explain BB’s discipline, uptight personality, and formal way of speaking. He was only in the army for four years and has been out for two years, but those habits still seem deeply ingrained in him. Maybe that’s because the military did not create those traits. It only reinforced habits that had already been drilled into him much earlier by his family, especially his dad.
If he grew up in a strict military or religious household, he may have been taught to speak carefully, control his emotions, follow rules and always be prepared. The army may have felt familiar to him because he had already been living under that kind of pressure long before he enlisted.
Also, BB has “The Sun Always Shines on TV” in his playlist. Could that song reflect his family’s public image? Maybe they look respectable, successful and glorious in the news or in public, while everything behind the scenes is rotten.
And could “The Unforgiven” be about his family, especially his dad? Maybe BB can’t forgive him for what he did, the pressure he put on him, or the life he forced him to live.
And the day that bear hurt him my fell on Sunday (Bloody Sunday)
And BB being O-negative makes this even more painful. If he was badly injured in a bear attack and lost a lot of blood, finding compatible blood quickly could have been difficult because O-negative is relatively rare. He may have come terrifyingly close to dying.
Imagine waking up after something like that, injured, scared and barely alive, only for his dad to look at him with disappointment instead of concern. Maybe his dad focused on what BB did wrong, lectured him, or treated the attack as proof that he was weak rather than recognizing that he was a child who had been seriously hurt.
That would be disgusting, ngl. It could explain why BB carries so much shame around failure and why he seems to believe he has to be useful, disciplined and strong all the time. If the person who was supposed to protect him responded to pain with disappointment, BB may have learned that being hurt was never enough to deserve care.
This might also explain why BB seems to live like he always needs to find a purpose. He may feel most useful when someone relies on him, like SLM. He said he can tolerate it, but when MC told him that he doesn’t always have to be that person and can rely on others too, he said that of course he does rely on others. Just not in the way MC meant.
Maybe BB only knows how to rely on people through duty, responsibility or being useful to them. If someone needs him, he has a role. He has something to do. Without that, he may not know who he is or what he is supposed to be doing.
Prime example: How does BB feel about being used as walking Blood Bag in his army days?
the thing is BB DOESNT think hes being used. in his mind, hes simply helping people who need him. but that doesnt mean hell blindly follow anyone!
thats actually why i wrote the whole Paw Pizza scene, it clearly shows that BB chooses very carefully who he respects. if he believes someone isnt worthy of leading him or doesnt genuinely care about others, he wont give them that part of himself.
his loyalty is unconditional once its earned but earning it is the hard part. and once someone earns that loyalty, hell often give far more of himself than he ever asks in return - Laly said, I quote
That could be why he enlisted in the US Army and wanted to continue. The military gave him structure, rules and a clear purpose. But maybe his sergeant eventually saw that BB had no real direction outside of being a soldier. Not because he was weak or incapable, but because he seemed lost and had no anchor in his own life.
Maybe his sergeant thought “This boy has no idea what he wants to do with his life.” Keeping someone like that in the military could be dangerous, especially if they are only staying because they have nowhere else to go. So maybe he let BB leave because he hoped BB would find a purpose that belonged to him, not one forced on him by his family or the army.
That could also be why his sergeant helped him get a job at Paw Pizza. Maybe BB did not have much experience outside of military training, discipline and survival. A normal job could have been a way for him to slowly build a life outside of the army and figure out who he is when nobody is telling him what his purpose should be.
Another thing that might connect to this is BB’s philosophy about “choosing the right leader to follow.”
If his dad was a commander, and his leadership caused BB harm, ignored his needs or contradicted everything a good leader should be, then it makes sense that BB would have such a strong opinion about leadership. Maybe he grew up under someone who expected obedience but offered no care, protection or guidance in return.
That could be why BB eventually left and decided he needed to find the right leader for himself. He may not hate structure or following orders. In fact, he seems to need structure. What he rejects is blindly following someone just because they have authority. He knows firsthand that someone can have power, status and a respected name while still being a terrible person to follow.
It could also connect to the way he talked about the hat. Even when it was dirty, he said it only needed to be wiped off and it would still be good to use.
Maybe that is how he sees himself.
In his family, he may have been treated as a failure, but not fully discarded. They may have kept him around as someone useful enough to have nearby, but not important enough to truly value. Like a side character, an outsider or something patched together that can still serve a purpose when needed.
Maybe BB thinks that even if he is damaged, scarred, or “dirty” in other people’s eyes, he can still be useful. He can still work. He can still follow orders. He can still have a purpose.
That is sad because it suggests he may measure his worth through usefulness rather than believing he deserves care simply because he is a person.
Why I think BB may have been close to his mom before
I think BB may have had a closer relationship with his mom when he was younger because she might have understood the pressure he was under.
If his dad really was controlling, authoritarian and obsessed with the family legacy, then his mom may have been living under that same pressure as his wife. She may have known exactly how strict he could be and how much he would try to impose his beliefs and expectations on BB.
Maybe she saw what was coming but felt powerless to stop it.
That could be why she named him W and had him watch war documentaries from an early age. It may not have been because she wanted to push him toward the military. Maybe she was trying to prepare him for the kind of life his dad was going to force on him. If she could not protect him directly, teaching him about war, discipline and survival might have been the only protection she knew how to give.
Maybe W was also her way of giving him something that belonged to her, something softer and more personal than the identity his dad wanted to force onto him.
If she had little influence in the family, she may have been expected to support the family image rather than challenge her husband openly. In a household built around status, authority and legacy, she may not have had much room to speak up about important decisions or defend her children.
That could explain why BB may still have complicated feelings about her. He might remember her as someone who cared about him, but also as someone who could not stop what happened to him.
I also mentioned earlier that BB’s family could be heavily religious. If that’s true, then why does BB seem to have no preference when it comes to religion now?
Maybe he doesn’t want anything that reminds him of his past life. If religion was tied to his family’s expectations to uphold their legacy, then distancing himself from it could be another way of distancing himself from them.
That might be why he deflected when MC asked whether it bothered him that he had no burial arrangements. Maybe it does bother him, but he doesn’t want to talk about it. Or maybe he genuinely feels detached from the idea of a religious burial because he left that part of his life behind.
I asked a friend from a Catholic family about it, and they said that someone in BB’s position might feel like they don’t deserve a proper burial in their religion anymore. Not necessarily because the religion itself says that, but because the person may carry shame, guilt or the belief that they have lost their honor.
Maybe BB feels like he walked away from the life his family wanted for him, so he no longer has a place in that world. Or maybe he believes that he failed his family, his faith or the identity they forced on him. That could be why he seems so indifferent about burial arrangements, even if the subject may hurt more than he lets on.
Obviously, this is only a theory, but the bear story, the scar, his reaction to bears, the weight of his last name and his distance from Norway all feel connected to me.
Oh, and Idk if Laly used the real calendar for the game’s setting, but I checked the 2007 - 2008 and 2009 calendars, and the game dates seem to be one day behind the real life.
For example, October 12 2009, falls on a Monday in real life but on a Sunday in the game (RJ work shift). BB’s employee ID says January 14 2008. In real life, that date was a Sunday, but in the game timeline, it would be a Monday, which makes more sense as a work start date.
We know BB worked at Paw Pizza in 2007, but we don’t know exactly when he left. My assumption is that he met RB on the same night he got jumped by 10 guys while delivering (HERE is my 1st theory). If he quit the next day, or within a week, then he may have been unemployed for around 2 weeks or more before starting at the garage.
If he started at the garage on January 14 2008, that would place him leaving Paw Pizza sometime in late December 2007.
BB said he got jumped at 1am on a Friday. The last Friday of 2007 in real life was December 28, but if the game calendar is one day behind, then the last Friday in the game would be December 27.
And BB’s lucky number is 27. RB’s suit also has 27 on it.
Maybe I’m looking way too deeply into this, and I could be completely wrong, so please don’t take it too seriously.
I was pondering how BB met MC and came up with a theory... (I'm not sure if anyone's thought of this already tho)
MC might drink— it's hinted at during the dare route when she drinks half a bottle of straight liquor. That feat is DIFFICULT man!
So, what ifffff MC drank a lot in the past?
This leads to the possibility of her going out often as well. Now comes the real shit.
Picture this:
MC visits a particular bar more than most; it could be considered her favorite to go to.
She goes there, gets a few drinks, the whole one two. Clearly, she's just living it up alone, maybe even with friends.
There's a man that's been watching her lately.
She doesn't notice because she's too fucked up to pay that close attention to her surroundings, so it unintentionally makes her a target.
He sits in his secluded corner of the bar, keeping an eye on the door due to habit from the army.
He thinks to himself: "She's stupid. Getting drunk to the extent of barely functioning is incredibly irrational.". He's annoyed at her recklessness, but he can't stop eyeing her. Something about her is magnetic to him, and others think that too.
Seeing that, it unlocks a deep sense of possessiveness he didn't know he had. He plays it off at the start, simply titling it as "She's just sexy".
However, it gets deeper.
He begins to look for his reckless woman every night. His curiosity gets the best of him and he picks up on her habits and personality... Soon developing into learning her mannerisms, routines... The textbook definition of stalking.
It was just curiosity, though!
And although he remains in the shadows, she eventually notices this regular wallflower and becomes intrigued by him, somewhat.
Glancing at the corner of her eye every once in a while, they make eye contact. That's what flips the switch.
"I'm in love with her..."
"She needs protection. She's weak."
"I need to protect her..."
This is reaaaally the tipping point.
Once they got in direct contact, she could've caught him beating a creep (that had been preying on her) to absolute pulp— damn near killing the guy. This, or she witnessed him murdering someone, or heard and analyzed suspicious comments he dropped without a second thought, especially if he tried to cover it up.
Either way, she then would see him in a much different light, ultimately viewing him as a possible danger.
This hurt.
After all their happy memories together; the joyrides, the hangouts, both deep and meaningless conversations had, maybe her teaching him the alphabet? She still doesn't fully trust him?
He slams his red helmet on the ground, shattering a good portion of it.
He doesn't care.
He doesn't care.
He doesn't care.
He can't care.
He can't care for a stupid girl he met at a shitty bar.
A girl he stalked endlessly, nightly even. Day in and day out.
She ran thousands of miles through his mind, and this is all he ends up with?
Maybe he backed off at the wrong time.
Maybe the creep from earlier came back for revenge on a night she drank too much.
Maybe she accidentally killed the man in self defense, and then called him begging for help, not knowing what the hell to do next.
And maybe he got rid of the body for her, promising she'd never get punished if he's there. "BB is here now, don't worry..."
Addition: It be ultra fucked if Lane was a bartender at a bar MC went to often. It's a decent explanation of her maybe knowing him before her loss of memory.
Also, ty for reading this far! I didn't actually mean for this to become a fanfic wannabe, but it's late asf for me so I let my mind run through all the possibilities of this story before I crash 😛
Edit: I just thought of this additional detail- What if BB would carry MC from the bar when she got too drunk? It's a little far fetched, but it might be on the table.
First time posting a (two) theory(ies) (english isn't my native language so mb if anything is wrong).
Tags/TW: Mention of triggering situations with violence, assumptions, and idk the rest, just be careful with this blog if you're sensitive.
First theory ahead;
What if BB and Red Biker aren't the same SAME person, but different personalities?
Okay, stay with me. We know that in shift two, BB looked hurt after we smirk quietly at Lane's joke, and he's constantly acting like he knows our rutine plus just everything in general (which somehow doesn't unnerve MC). Where MC is, what she's doing, he even knows RJ but from what he said, he didn't even speak to him, but somehow he STILL knows our manager.
The grafiti on the bathroom of "Z and W were here" makes me think that unlike the pararell WE have with mirrors (example; You smile at the cracked bathroom's mirror, and it's like someone else is smiling back) BB just directly locked the Red Biker at the back of his mind, even if he still reacts to it like it's him, BECAUSE IT IS HIM, he's just trying to push past it to "change" or to allow his better version to take charge.
While this doesn't exactly work because (at the end of his route in shift two I think?) he gets REALLY defensive over going to Lane's, and then BAM, he's acting like some abusive ex and MC reacts, cuz' GUESS WHAT? They're both remembering stuff they rather not, stuff that hurts and makes the blood go cold, as MC stated.
Second theory;
They were close friends.
Now, on the other side? BB and Red Biker could had been on the same friend group, and since it's something recent, it could be that RB started harrasing us or something similar/worse, causing BB to naturally know because bro told him our rutines, which wouldn't be weird if we consider they're both crazy and fucked up on the head. They probably casually spoke about women as objects, RB could have said at some point; "Yo, look over my girl while i'm out, yes? Make sure she doesn't do anything weird." 😑
"I'll bring you to the Moon!" Such a dog for MC, too, right?. Maybe BB thinks that anything the dog says, he shall do as a wolf himself. Maybe that's how he got hurt, after all he'd rather be a hostile dog than a barker.
Maybe i'm overlooking something or looking too deeply, but considering how BAD BB is at taking advice, i'm REALLY sure he got his stalking skills thanks to military, being a possesive bastard, and that lame friend too, if we're being honest. I feel like that could explain why he's chill and says "mine's black" when he goes over to MC's house just to stare at the door, because;
1- He knows his friend, he knows what's up. It hurts him but because he's remembering who RB was BEFORE the blood got on his hands, before he hurt MC.
2- That's genuinely him, he just doesn't WANT to aknowledge it (doesn't mean he doesn't care, yeah he was indiferent, but that could be a defense mechanism).
Either way, personally I lean more on the side of them being friends and breaking over because RB's an abusive jerk, so BB probably went "yo no bro, women can't defend themselves you're ez" and threw him out of the window, while lowkey pinning cuz' RB was TOO clear about what type of person she was, so he gained an interest / he felt bad for her. Could explain why they had an argument, that can even be why MC is scared of red.
Imagine RB was hurting MC, and then BB jumped in. Remember he said to the old guy next to our apartment, "I could take him." He sounds familiar. Like he can, because he already did. So imagine they fought, right? And that damn red suit is filled with crimson liquid, both limping, military precision, punches & kicks, ect… but not dramatic. Just a real fight. That's not what MC is scared of, she's scared of THE INJURIES. Because it triggers her. The abuse, the wounds, all of it, the blood is just the main BAM for the granade to go off.
Anyways, that's all. I tried to make my thoughs as short as possible for a first blog lmao, hope y'all like it and can have an opinin on it.
Neur do you think the 'weird' customer in the bathroom during shift 3 was the one who left the paper bag in the aisle and vomited in front of the closet door (which suspiciously contains rat poison)? I mean the man was clearly suicidal.
Yeah, I think so. The conversation between him and BB feels like confirmation that he'd seen BB/RB, or at least people like them many times before. It suggests that people with suicidal thoughts can recognize or sense each other.
The way BB talks to the man also doesn't come across like he's making the conversation up in his head. It feels more like he's repeating something that someone once told him. He's borrowing someone else's words because they genuinely helped him, and now he's passing that advice on to someone else who needs it.
I can think of two possible scenarios.
1. It was his former sergeant.
The sergeant who signed BB's discharge papers and scolded him before letting him go was probably the first person to recognize just how suicidal BB had become. That would explain why BB says the sergeant understood his situation so well.
I can imagine the sergeant telling him something like "If you've lost your purpose, then go find a new one. Try a different job. Find another path."
That could also explain why he helped BB get the pizza delivery job while making sure he wasn't assigned a vehicle. Maybe he was worried BB still had suicidal tendencies and didn't want to give him an easy opportunity to act on them.
2. It was RB.
The other possibility is that RB met BB during the lowest point in his life and gave him similar advice. Instead of telling him to give up, he encouraged him to find something that made life worth living again, like motorcycles.
Maybe RB helped BB redirect those self-destructive impulses into racing or other adrenaline filled activities. Riding gave him a way to escape the constant weight of his thoughts while still satisfying that craving to stand on the edge of death without actually crossing the line.
This also makes me wonder if RB struggled with suicidal thoughts himself, or at least had been close enough to that mindset to recognize it in other people. It would explain why he seemed to notice BB so easily. People who have lived through the same kind of darkness often pick up on things that everyone else misses.
One thing about people in that spiral is that they tend to believe no one can truly understand them, even if they try to explain. In BB's case, he probably wouldn't even try. He's not the type to talk about his feelings or admit he's struggling. He'd rather carry everything on his own than let anyone see him at his weakest. Given the time period, when mental health wasn't openly discussed and asking for help was often seen as weakness, it makes sense that he'd keep it all buried.
That's why I think RB didn't need BB to explain anything. He could've recognized the signs because he'd experienced something similar himself. Instead of trying to comfort BB with empty reassurance, he gave him something practical to hold onto. Maybe he told him to find something that made life worth living, even if it was something as simple as motorcycles.
That idea lines up with BB's character. Riding isn't just a hobby for him. It's a distraction, a purpose and a way to channel those destructive impulses into something else. He even describes himself as "riding with death" which works both literally and figuratively. Riding gave him something to focus on, an outlet that kept the darkness at bay while satisfying that urge to brush against danger without giving in to it completely.
What happened later between BB/RB and MC probably reinforced that lesson even more. It would explain why BB eventually stayed at SLM and continued looking out for MC. She became his purpose, the reason he kept choosing tomorrow over the easier alternative. Without her, I honestly think he'd rather be gone.
That's also why BB doesn't try to comfort the man in the bathroom the same way MC probably would. BB doesn't see himself through emotional connections like family, friends, or love. He sees himself as a tool with a purpose. The man in the bathroom likely felt the same way in that moment, so talking about family or the people who care about him might not have reached him at all.
Instead, BB speaks to him in a way that acknowledges exactly where his mind is. It may sound blunt or even cold, but I don't think it's a lack of empathy. BB knows that, sometimes, the only person who can truly reach someone in that state is another person who's been there themselves. He strips away everything unnecessary and says only what that man actually needs to hear, because he understands that mindset better than most people ever could.

why do u think bb almost practically never calls mc by their name ?? and when he got rlly pissed at lane for saying our name at the end of shift 2
Tbh, I think it's pretty easy to understand.
MC doesn't learn BB's name until Shift 3, so from BB's perspective, it would probably come across as rude or impolite to call someone by their name when you haven't even introduced yourself yet. I don't think that's something BB would do, especially when that military way of speaking is so deeply ingrained in him. It's basically habit and routine at this point.
He does say MC's name once though, when he's talking about her name tag.
The second reason is something I've already mentioned in one of my theories about BB's family background. I think names carry a lot of weight for him. They're not just casual labels. To BB, they're something deeply personal and intimate.
You can actually see him hint at this during the conversation at SLM after MC finds his dog tag and realizes he's a veteran. He says he doesn't really use his name anymore, almost like it's something forgotten or not worth remembering. That feeling seems especially tied to his last name, which came from his father and clearly left a deep mark on him.
At the same time, he melts when MC calls him by his first name. He even says she says it the same way his mom used to, and you can tell it makes him feel all warm, soft and genuinely happy.
So I think, in BB's mind, a person's first name is something incredibly private and intimate. That's probably why it bothers him so much when someone he cares about, loves, and is obsessed with lets a person like Lane casually use her name.
We get even more insight into this because BB already sees Lane as someone who's constantly walking all over MC. So from his perspective, hearing Lane casually call her by her name probably feels like proof that MC lets him get too close and push her around. They've only worked together for about a month, yet Lane already gets to address her so comfortably.
Whatever happened between BB and MC in the past, I just assume MC wasn't nearly as open or casual with him when they first met as she is with Lane. I can see that making BB a little jealous.
Haha let's just say names are basically a landmine for BB in one way or another.
Someone asked me what my take on RB's appearance and personality is, and I accidentally made my reply way longer than I intended. 😭 I really need to stop doing that. So... I figured I'd just turn it into a separate post instead. A bit wall of text.
This is just my theory and speculation. Nothing has been confirmed by Laly, so I could be completely wrong. Read this for fun, not as something serious!!
If RB really exists as his own individual, what zodiac sign do you think he'd be?
Lane is a Gemini, an air sign. Amy is a Capricorn, an earth sign. BB is a Scorpio, a water sign. I think all of their zodiac signs fit them really well, which leaves only the fire signs. Sagittarius, Leo and Aries.
Based on the zodiac magazine in Lane's kitchen, here's what we have.
Capricorn (Dec 22 to Jan 19) - Amy
You don't exactly hand out invitations to your inner world, Capricorn. Stop apologizing for the weight you're holding. You don't have to be the calm one, the capable one, the one who knows what to do while everyone else spirals. Try not to look away. Someone close to you needs the other version of you, and this week pushes you to say what you feel before someone else steals the moment. Walk through it, even if it scares you. You've survived scarier things.
Scorpio (Oct 23 to Nov 21) - BB
You're carrying more than you say you are, Scorpio, like you're wearing a version of yourself that doesn't quite fit. This week brings a moment where the past brushes against the present. People around you may think you've changed, even though you're just trying to hold on to something that slipped away too quickly. A storm is coming in your sky. Don't resist it. Let what's leaving... leave. What stays with you after will be the only thing that ever truly mattered.
Gemini (May 21 to June 20) - Lane
You're talking a lot, Gemini, but you're dodging one topic. And it may surface midweek, as a reminder that your past still tugs at the edges of who you are today. Instead of running from it, let yourself sit with the feeling. You might surprise yourself with how much you've grown. This weekend brings a moment where you're tempted to act like the loudest person in the room again, not because you want attention, but because that's what you learned to do when you felt invisible. Try something new. Let someone else speak. They're not trying to control you, or judge you, or tell you what to be. They're just trying to understand you. You can't fix the past. But you can stop letting it choose your defenses for you.
Sagittarius (Nov 22 to Dec 21)
There's comfort in repetition, but don't confuse routine with satisfaction. A small change in your daily pattern brings clarity you don't know you need. And it might make your life better.
Based on this, I don't think RB is a Sagittarius.
He doesn't strike me as someone who finds comfort in repetition. Quite the opposite actually. He seems like the type who craves unpredictability and adventure more than anything. Is he someone who enjoys routine? I really don't think so. If anyone fits that description better, I'd say it's BB.
Even though Sagittarius has the reputation of being the "adventurous" sign, the actual horoscope text doesn't really match RB. It's talking about finding comfort in routine and gaining clarity through small changes in everyday life. That's a calm, grounded message, which feels completely opposite to someone who thrives on chaos, speed and pushing limits.
So I'd rule Sagittarius out based on the horoscope itself, not the stereotype attached to the sign.
Virgo (Aug 23 to Sept 22)
You've been noticing details others overlook, and it's exhausting you more than it should. Sometimes perfection feels like a trap, but this week a small mistake or accident might remind you that imperfection isn't failure. It's growth.
Pisces (Feb 19 to Mar 20) (my sign ehe)
Your intuition is on point, guiding you through a decision you've been avoiding. Someone might come to you for comfort or advice, and your empathy will mean more than you realize for them. A good weekend will recharge you!
Aquarius (Jan 20 to Feb 18)
Your mind is buzzing with bright ideas, and one of them deserves real action. Just stay open to collaboration. The right person is waiting for you to make the right decision, and they could help your plan take shape faster than you expect.
Taurus (Apr 20 to May 20)
You're getting things done this week, and it feels good. A small win midweek will boost your confidence, and you might finally cross something off your list. Just please, keep your pace steady.
Libra (Sept 23 to Oct 22)
This week you'll notice people responding well to your good vibes! And this weekend is all about taking it easy and enjoying a calm atmosphere alone.
Leo (July 23 to Aug 22) (possible)
You've been trying a little too hard to prove a point lately. Let people come to you without the theatrics. Someone's first impression of you isn't the one that will matter in the long run.
Leo is definitely a possibility.
This horoscope talks about trying too hard to prove a point through theatrics and reminds you that people's first impression isn't what will matter in the end.
RB customizing a devil face onto his helmet, wearing a flashy red racing suit, and styling himself after a real world speed demon persona all feel like someone who's carefully crafting an image. He's loud, dramatic, and wants to be seen a certain way. That performance aspect fits Leo surprisingly well.
It also makes me think about the ending of Shift 3.
When MC refuses to "go back" RB tells her he'll pull her back anyway. That determination to make his point no matter what also feels like it could fit this reading.
Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
Your energy pushes you forward, but not every fight needs winning. Choosing where to put your fire makes the difference. You can win while...
Aries (Mar 21 to Apr 19) (potential)
Things at home or with people close to you might feel tense. Don't ignore it, but don't lash out either. Listening before acting will teach you more than arguing ever could. Patience is a strength.
Okay, this one's tricky because it talks about home, and I have absolutely no idea who RB really is, let alone what "home" would even mean for him.
Aries is ruled by Mars, the traditional planet of aggression, impulse and danger. It's probably the zodiac sign most associated with chasing adrenaline and picking fights before thinking things through.
The horoscope talks about tension with people close to you, warns against lashing out, and says patience is a strength.
That reads like advice directed at someone whose impulsiveness creates friction with the people around him. If my theory about RB encouraging BB's reckless streak is true, and if they really were racing each other over MC, then this fits surprisingly well.
At the same time, I don't know if RB has much patience left in him after what we saw at the end of Shift 3.... Or maybe he does?
There's also something else that makes me think about Aries.
One of my favourite characters from another fandom is an Aries, and leadership is one of their defining traits.
If BB's metaphor about not minding being leashed by someone, as long as they don't pull him somewhere he doesn't want to go, implies that he used to let RB leash him, then maybe BB really did see RB as a good leader at one point. Or at least someone whose leadership style he respected enough to follow.
If that's true, then Aries actually fits RB pretty well.
But we don't know. So right now I'm stuck somewhere between Leo and Aries.
...Or maybe I'm completely wrong and he isn't even a fire sign 😭
About RB's traits that I can think of so far
As for his personality, I like to think he's the DIY, custom-build, handmade kind of guy. The type who'd rather make or modify something himself than buy it as is. Laly kind of confirmed that impression in one of the asks she answered about him.
That's one of the reasons I keep leaning toward Aries. Aries tends to lock onto one passion and go all in. They're usually more single-minded and intense than broad and social. Leo energy, on the other hand, is more about wanting attention in general instead of being completely consumed by one specific interest.
To me, RB feels like a mix of BB and Lane.
Lane's bark is worse than his bite, but does the same apply to RB? I don't think so. If RB says he'll do something, I actually believe he'd follow through.
I wouldn't exactly call him cocky either. He just has this loud af confidence that can easily come across that way. He stands out so much that you can clearly see the effort he puts into his image, but somehow it still looks effortless. Even when he's dressed in a flashy racing suit with a custom devil helmet, it never feels like he's trying too hard. It just feels... natural. Like that's simply who he is.
Then, once you actually talk to him, he's just some guy who's completely hyperfixated on motorcycles and dressing up 😭
As for whether he's violent because he's just... well... a lot crazy? I'd say yes.
The difference is that he doesn't just talk, he actually steps in when he wants to. At the same time, I don't think he's the type to let every situation spiral just for the sake of it. It feels more like he picks and chooses what's worth his energy. If he's not in the mood, he seems like the kind of person who genuinely couldn't care less.
That said, I also don't think he'd ever let someone walk away thinking they'd gotten the upper hand over him. Even if he decides not to engage, it doesn't come across as backing down. It feels more like he's decided they're not worth his time. He chooses when something deserves a response.
He steps in physically, but he's selective about it (??). He won't let things escalate unless he personally decides today's the day to deal with it. Otherwise, he seems indifferent. But even when he ignores someone, he never lets them feel like they've won.
That's actually one of the biggest reasons I think Aries fits him.
Mars ruled signs aren't just about constant aggression. They act on their own terms. They aren't necessarily reactive or easily provoked, but once they decide to engage, they're direct, decisive and... physical?
That refusal to let anyone feel like they've beaten him also feels very Aries. He doesn't need to escalate every conflict just to prove a point, but he also won't concede one either.
One thing this raises that's really interesting to think about is RB and BB's dynamic.
If BB is a Scorpio and RB is an Aries, that's actually a classic close but combustible pairing in astrology. Both signs are intense, stubborn, and capable of real anger, but they handle conflict in completely different ways.
In astrology, a combustible pairing (or combustible connection) refers to a highly passionate, volatile, and potentially explosive romantic relationship between two zodiac signs. These pairs are characterized by intense physical attraction and magnetic chemistry, but they come with a high risk of power struggles and emotional burnout.
Aries acts fast. They explode, get it out of their system, and move on. Scorpio holds onto it. They internalize it and simmer it.
The relationship between Aries and Scorpio is often described as a combustible one, with both signs possessing a fiery intensity and a deep-seated need for control. This pairing can be marked by a powerful physical and emotional attraction, but it also carries the risk of becoming a volatile and potentially destructive union.
Aries' impulsive nature and Scorpio's obsessive tendencies can create a dynamic that is both captivating and exhausting. The initial spark between these two signs may be undeniable, but maintaining a healthy balance can be a constant challenge. Aries' need for freedom and Scorpio's desire for deep, unwavering commitment can lead to power struggles and trust issues.
That difference alone could explain a lot about how their friendship eventually cracked. They're both capable of escalating conflict, but they escalate in completely different ways when something goes wrong between them.
i was playing bb's and lane's route back to back today (crazyyyy thing to do) and i noticed that in the scene where you're on the night shift and you can walk to the parking lot, you can talk with the old man who lost his dog (that im pretty sure is the same old man who lost his dog on shift 2 as well)
so. when you're on lane's route and you talk with the old man, he says something like "when he's alone (the dog) he bites."
but when you're on bb's route and you talk with the old man, there's a small difference, and he says "when's thundering he bites."
and since you're the biggest mind on this fandom ✋️✋️ i wanted to ask if you had noticed it? i thought it was so telling of the boys' routes and so sneaky of laly (as she usually is). i love every crumble of detail she throws, especially when she uses the dog metaphor for it.
Yes, this is actually something Laly did on purpose.
BB brings the rain, while Lane chases it away. If you choose BB's route, it's raining, and the dog's line changes to biting when it hears thunder. If you choose Lane's route, there's no rain, so the line changes to biting because it's "lonely."
This also matches the two birds we find in each route.
BB is represented by the raven, while Lane is represented by the robin.
Ravens carry heavy symbolism across countless cultures. They're associated with death, mourning, omens, and watching over the dead. In many myths and folktales, they're also connected to memory, carrying knowledge and remembering things everyone else has forgotten. Another interesting detail is that ravens are known for recognizing individual people and holding grudges for years.
The raven is also sitting on the motorcycle. That's the same bike many of us have been connecting to RB this whole time. It's almost as if the bike itself has become a symbol of unresolved history, and the raven is literally perched on top of it, watching over that past.
The robin, on the other hand, carries almost the opposite symbolism. It's associated with spring, renewal, hope, and new beginnings. There's also old folklore that says a robin appearing at your window can be a message or a visit from someone who's passed away. A window itself usually symbolizes something arriving or someone reaching out, which makes that detail even more interesting.
From my perspective, the story can be interpreted in two different ways.
The first is about external factors. The dog bites because it has a reason to, such as hearing thunder. Something happens that makes it feel threatened, so it fights back to defend itself.
The second is about internal factors. The dog bites because it's lonely. It's attacking even though there's no immediate danger or direct threat.
This is where I think the dog could represent either RB or BB or both.
Back in Shift 2, the old man mentions that he has two dogs, one quiet and one loud. We know the quiet one, Switch, has been missing for quite a while, and he's been searching for it. By Shift 3, the missing poster has been taken down. That could mean he finally found his dog, or it could mean he simply gave up looking.
Personally, I lean toward the idea that he never found it.
Instead, I think Shift 3 is him remembering the night his dog ran away. Memory problems are pretty common with elderly people, and that could explain the contradictions in his story. First, he says the dog ran into the woods. Then he says he followed muddy paw prints that led all the way to the store, even though the MC says they never saw any dog around.
To me, that suggests he didn't actually lose his dog that night in the way he's describing it. He just can't bear the feeling of never finding it, so he unconsciously creates a version of events where he's still chasing after it, almost like he's reliving one of the most painful moments of his life.
If we interpret the dog as either RB or BB, then Lane's route starts looking a lot more dangerous.
Choosing Lane means you've abandoned BB in some way, and he definitely wouldn't be happy about that. RB constantly wants you to remember, and he even brings up BB during Lane's route. That makes me think choosing Lane is exactly when you should "beware of the dog" (Beware of Him on Lane's apartment door), just like the old man warns us: "Not all bad dogs wear collars."
There's another possible interpretation if you believe the old man did find his dog, only for it to run away again.
In that case, the story becomes a cycle. No matter what he does, history repeats itself. Like the old man says, some dogs are just born with something broken. That could also reflect the unhealthy cycle you'd end up trapped in with BB. (just like what happened between you and RB for example)
Of course, this is all just interpretation. It could also depend on the choices you make throughout the game, with different options leading you down different paths. It doesn't necessarily mean everything behind BB's route is completely bad.
Still, no matter which interpretation I look at, I can't shake the feeling that Lane is the one in danger during his own route :)))
There's also the bathroom scene with Lane that makes me think about this even more.
Lane tells MC about a movie where a possessive boyfriend ends up killing his girlfriend because he can't accept not being the center of her universe. When MC asks what he would do in that situation, Lane says he'd step in and help, even if it meant putting himself in danger. He even implies he'd rather risk becoming a murderer himself than stand by and do nothing.
If the "dog" is meant to represent someone who eventually attacks MC, then that conversation feels like foreshadowing.
If the dog escaped and is destined to attack MC one day, then in Lane's route, Lane could very well be the one who steps in to protect her. Just like he said in that bathroom conversation, he'd put himself in danger without hesitation if it meant keeping her safe. That could also explain why I feel like Lane is the one who's actually in danger during his own route. If anyone is going to get hurt trying to stop the "dog" it'd probably be him.
As for BB's route, I interpret it a little differently. I think this side of the story is more about MC and RB than it is about BB himself.
I feel like something is bound to happen between the three of them. The storm here likely represents RB. I don't necessarily mean RB has to physically appear to cause harm. It could simply be that he makes MC remember something while she's with BB, and those memories are enough to throw everything into chaos.
Choosing BB's route means getting close enough to BB that RB's unfinished business has a direct path back into MC's life. The dog's bite isn't random aggression. It's a reaction to a very specific trigger. The thunder comes first, then the dog reacts.
That would mean the danger in BB's route isn't necessarily that BB will hurt MC. It's that getting close to BB also means getting close to everything that was left unresolved with RB, and that's what actually "bites" whenever the storm returns.
BB himself might end up being the one forced to react when it happens. (Like the Hanged Man in that tarot read).
If that's the case, then staying with BB risks repeating whatever happened with RB before. You have to face the truth (like the Judgment in that tarot reading).
If RB is the thunder and BB is the dog that reacts to it, then the cycle isn't really about BB being unstable. It's about BB never getting the chance to fully leave that history behind. Every time things finally become quiet enough for him to move on, RB or whatever RB represents now comes back into range.
