you know what, how shit The Poughkeepsie Tapes was just made me want to rewatch the BBC miniseries Thirteen with Jodie Comer, so i'm gonna go do that. it's only five episodes and i remember it being quite good back when i saw it at release in 2016 so i hope it holds up.

Honestly, I sort of think that, at least at this point, Merchant represents the shameful, victim-blaming part of all of us that rears its ugly head in terrible situations like what happens to Ivy. She gives voice and body to all of the doubts we have but don’t want to voice. So on the one hand, she’s a relief, because she’s asking the questions we want to ask, but on the other hand the part of us that wants to know the answer to those questions is a terrible piece of our souls.
