Whenever someone talks about Emrys as a god they always give him the title of the god of magic, but honestly I think that role should be reserved for the Triple goddess. Merlin doesn't really have complete mastery or knowledge of magic. He is magic. So Merlin is more her son.
So anyone else want an AU where Hunith is the Triple Goddess or is it just me?
If I had to give Emrys a role in the Old Religion Pantheon, I would go with god of protection or something in that realm. OR he's kind of the second wave of the god of magic thing, where he encompasses that role in the druidic pantheon but not that of the Old Religion, making them two separate things.
She still makes the same mistakes as Hunith btw this doesn't maker a better parent (not that Hunith was bad per se but she did screw up a couple of times, like with the Balinor thing). She's the goddess of magic, not the goddess of parenting.
Why is she in that village? Well, less magic users means less devouts, and less devouts means less offerings and prayers, and less offerings and prayers means less power for her.
The Nimueh thing goes a bit differently in this AU. Either Hunith is the one to kill her, or she just strips Nimueh of any magic power and takes away her title as priestess. I'd say that usually she doesn't interfere with Merlin's destiny and all, and the only reason she did was because Nimueh didn't know Hunith was the Triple Goddess so when she tried taking her life with the Cup, it was a huge offense to Hunith. She didn't even know why Nimueh did that she just felt one of her last priestesses crossing a line and decide to get rid of her. Can't have her biting off more than she can chew.
Meeting Arthur is one of the best days of her life. Not many people use magic to conceive because of the price, so she doesn't get to meet many results of that.
She still sent Merlin to Gaius, who in this AU she only knows as the man getting magic users out of Camelot that allowed her and Balinor to meet. Because though she's on a whole nother level, she didn't have to learn any of it. And Merlin is more a demigod, so he still has to start somewhere. He has an affinity to it and once he learns a spell he can do it without uttering a word, but not everything is like the small reflexes of moving or freezing something that fell off a table.
And he really cannot do healing.
