I thought for sure BB Ben was scrapped permanently given how TRoS ended, but what do you think about them releasing those episodes now? Are they just sadistic fucks? Or is this possibly foreshadowing bringing him back in some way? I feel like such a clown to keep hoping buuuuut
I mean... Itâs been made pretty clear at this point that DLF never really âplannedâ ANYTHING out in regards to the ST, so I find it hard to believe that theyâve started planning things now that itâs supposed to be over.
I think the Ben Solo UwU torture weâre experiencing now is just a continuation of poor communication/planning within DLF (shocking I know). The authors of the various Ben related content had limited (or no?) collaboration with each other and DLF provided no outline for a cohesive story for the character, so now we have content that feels cruel and disconnected from the main story that was told and doesnât REALLY mean anything as far as their future plans go (imo). Let me explain...
The Rise of Kylo Ren comics were reportedly written/completed even before TROS was finished with editing and the author said he didnât know the ending or any major TROS spoilers at that time via his Twitter (Iâm too lazy to find receipts sorry). In other words, Charles had NO IDEA he had written a sympathetic origin story for a character that would be denied any real catharsis for his painful existence (let that sink in).
Why is this TROKR stuff important when weâre talking about Roll Out? Well, since the SW Roll Out episodes started coming out months before TROS as well (with BB Ben and Han featured in the intro) I tend to believe that they were also completed before hand and or at least the stories were all pretty solidly fleshed out (Matt Martin of the story group consistently said the Ben episodes âwere comingâ whenever he was asked on Twitter, so I think they were a done deal ever since Roll Out started). Further, I find it hard to believe the creator of SW Roll Out would be given any more clearance than Charles had as far as TROS spoilers go.
SO, essentially, the creators of all this (new to us) Ben UwU content were not aware of the characterâs ultimate fate in TROS, and so they wrote the character in a way that made sense in a post TLJ world (unlike JJerrio) which is why these stories feel more legitimate and honest than TROS and we would LOVE them unconditionally if TROS didnât exist (now they just hurt). Both of these Ben related projects were ALWAYS meant to be released after TROS regardless and so they donât reflect the current leanings of the company. In other words, this content is not in response to the âbring Ben Solo Backâ outcry. Itâs just an unfortunate/unintentional torture for us in the aftermath of his poorly handled (understatement) story.
Now, if they start giving us Ben Solo UwU content that WAS NOT being written prior to TROS I would MAYBE allow myself to believe that they realized they fucked up and are considering a way for him to return. But for now , as far as I can tell, this is all just remnants of the good old post TLJ days when the story still fucking made sense and Ben Solo was meant to come home. đ¤
