iiaat to not understand other people's emotions very well? like why people feel certain ways, do things and how people think differently from you.
It can be, definitely. Black and white thinking is super common in autistic people and what you’re describing can in part be black and white thinking (why do you feel like this? you should feel like that.) We can also have trouble because a lot of emotional reactions are linked to societal boundaries which we have trouble with. I have no idea why people get offended if I ask how much money they make, why on earth is that taboo? So if I end up asking about financial things, I always get surprised that they get offended or hedge around not answering. Sometimes, we have to put more effort into remembering and attempting to follow these rules because they make no sense to us and we often don’t follow them just because everyone else does.
