So, I lied about being done with the Sector Imperialis terrain. After seeing the new Urban Conquest objective markers - the reliquary, especially - I was inspired to build this ruined chancel for the shop's Cityfight board.
In a perfect world, it'd be modular with other wall sections that describe the rest of the floorplan, including the nave and transepts; but the sheer amount of structural components needed make it prohibitively expensive, with so many of the arches only available in one kit.
I do have an idea for a cathedral entrance that I'm going to try with the remaining components, but further compromises will likely be necessary. It's just a shame that Games Workshop no longer sells individual sprues. Even at, say, twenty bucks a frame, I would absolutely buy the parts I need in bulk.
I like big buttresses and I cannot lie.
Trying to draw down some of the Basilicanum statues I’ve accumulated. Just as well that I’ve accumulated so many, as these taller buildings have a tendency to look a little plain without something to dress up the profile - especially when you’re working to a smaller footprint and don’t have the luxury of really varying the wall depth.
It still kind of irks me that the Basilicanum is the only way to get the large arch sprue. I had hoped that the Imperial Sector box would be a reissue of the Kill Team starter set’s terrain, providing a more cost-effective method of getting it; but it turns out that they cut an entirely new sprue with fewer options on it just for that box.
It’s still not a bad value if you’re just looking to add some basic terrain to your board, but with less of the parts I actually need it’s not worthwhile for complex multi-story buildings - although I did manage to use all of it on these two ruins.
The board is set.

Couple more smaller pieces of terrain to finish off the last of the Basilicanum kits. This should just about fully dress the Sector Imperialis layout at the other hobby center in my area. With Urban Conquest going up for pre-order in a few days, now is the perfect time to retire the last of the old Cities of Death scenery.
I opted for a simpler layout for the piece on the left, just to make the most of the components I had left. While you can go nuts with buttresses and arches - and I have - sometimes, it's advantageous to just have an elevated position with cover that will fit a whole squad.
The other piece is a less ambitious take on my cathedral entrance, owing to the scarcity of good parts. I'd actually wanted to go a level higher and do the entrance as more of a balcony but I think this will be perfectly sufficient for the shop.
I do still have a bag full of starter set sprues, separate from this project, that I'll probably try to do something ridiculous with. We'll just have to see how that turns out.
