Okay, as a Gen Z young adult, I have to say it: nobody knows how to do shit anymore. And by that, I mean a lot of the maintenance skills typically associated with blue-collar work because everyone focused on getting white-collar jobs and neglected these basic skills. I mean, I know people who donβt know how to do basic repairs and have to call in handymen to do it - and then thereβs the complete removal of classes like Home Economics and Shop to focus on STEM subjects. Not saying those arenβt important - they most certainly are - but a lot of the current generation are going out there missing some pretty essential life skills because they were taught neither at school or at home now to do these things. I just started to learn to sew this year, and I honestly wish Iβd done it much sooner. The clothes I wouldnβt have had to needlessly throw away just because they got a bit damagedβ¦ I could have just fixed them myself! Seriously, what happened?!
