Top five Must Go Places in Ireland. I may be in your neck of the woods in the summer.
Oooooh! This is going to be a list of my favourite places. Because look, I love some places.
Dalymount Park for a Bohs match. It’s a crumbling stadium that used to be the national stadium, filled with passionate fans and a team that beat two major European teams despite being part time footballers. I spent so much of my childhood here, if you like soccer it’s a must visit for atmosphere alone.
The drive from Galway out to Connemara. You’ve the Atlantic on one side, desolate fields on the other, and if you kept going west your next stop would be Labrador. Some of the best seafood you’ll ever eat is going to be eaten there.
Galway City in general. I recently made a list of places in Galway to visit and it was like 10 places long and I cut it to the bare bones. Kick the wall at the end of the Prom in Salthill, sit at Middle Arch on the banks of the Corrib with some cans. I love it so much. So, so much.
Any of the museums in Dublin. Any that are government run (the dead zoo, Collin’s Barracks, the History Museum, the national gallery, Chester Beatty Library and a mountain more) are all completely free to enter. There’s donation boxes, but it’s all optional. I highly, highly recommend them. And if you’re around when there’s a Leinster House tour, that’s amazing. It’s pretty cool to learn the history.
This is a super touristy thing, but honestly? The Guinness Storehouse. It’s really interesting, and the bar at the top has the best views of Dublin. The pints aren’t actually that good there (I have a whole list of best pints in Dublin cause I’m that human), but it’s worth the visit.
