Barsik is a medium haired black and white Cat with yellow eyes in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate.

Barsik can be found outside the western wall of Sorcerous Sundries in the Lower City. Barsik worships Sharess, originally known as Bast, patroness of cats. Sharess was often depicted with the head of a cat. Along with Myshka and Malta, Barsik is one of three different cats located near Bonecloak's Apothecary that can be asked to keep Derryth Bonecloak company if Baelen Bonecloak died in Act One, and the party has spoken to her about how she feels lonely without him.

Boo is the familiar and companion of Minsc. He is a ⁠miniature giant space hamster who Minsc can summon with Find Familiar: Boo. Boo is the one of the only beasts the player character cannot understand even while using Speak with Animals. However, Minsc asserts that Boo "speaks of much" and that maybe one day they will be able to understand him.

Boo is a small, fuzzy miniature giant space hamster (allegedly) who enjoys fruit and is Minsc's stalwart companion. He has a strong sense of justice, and is unafraid of confronting evil and taking matters into his own tiny hands. Boo is very observant, and never sleeps deeply when evil is near. He is patient and wise, serves as the brains to Minsc's brawn and is also Minsc's moral guide. Boo is somewhat wary of cats, and has a soft spot for Shadowheart. Despite his diminutive size, he is usually unable to activate or enter burrows and tiny holes in walls. As Minsc often says, "Boo would squeeze through but he just had a big lunch."

"Boo may or may not be pulling a Ratatouille with Minsc, but either way, that hamster is an esteemed member of my party. He is absolutely adorable and may come to rule the entirety of Faerun one day. He is cute, cuddly, and he and Minsc canonically annoy Astarion so much with their visits that the vampire keeps moving his lair to avoid them. But they always find him because he’s their friend. Boo is one half of an iconic and beloved duo. He is a master criminal who will bite a bitch for his bestie. And best of all, he’s not just a normal hamster; he’s a miniature giant space hamster."

"sorry but no other bg3 animal has this level of cultural impact. no other bg3 animal has people meeting him and immediately accepting that yes, this hamster is apparently a veteran hero, a justice-oriented philosopher, and the senior partner in his relationship with Minsc. even Shadowheart appraisingly says Boo seems like the worthy addition to the group and Minsc is just kind of a bonus. AS SHE SHOULD. also i think it rules that Speak With Animals doesn’t work on him properly. normal rules do not apply to Boo. language itself folds before him. you are not enlightened enough."

"Boo is tiny, yes, and ridiculous, yes, but he’s also tied to one of the warmest dynamics in the game. he is Minsc’s constant. his “greater half,” basically. their history stretches back long before the events of bg3, and the way Minsc talks about him makes Boo feel less like a pet and more like a sacred witness to everything Minsc has endured and remained through. even the backstory framing has Boo as the one who recognised Minsc as a champion of justice and became his guide, which is such an unexpectedly lovely way to define their bond."
