he was readjusting his red wool scarf around his neck when he heard a small voice calling, “i am groot.” he gazed down and sure enough, he found the tiny creature looking back up at him. the first time tim found out about groot he thought about the ents from the lord of the rings straight off the bat. and everyone who knew tim knew that he loved it. so you can imagine how excited tim felt when he found out ents, essentially, did exist. he couldn’t help the warm smile forming on his lips as he crouched down in front of the adorable creature. “hi there groot. did you wanted to tell me something?” when he nodded and pointed at a pile of leaves in the distance, tim nodded in return and extended the palm of his hand towards groot. once he was settled, tim carefully made his way towards the leaves. before he had a chance to set groot down, the little creature was already yelling ‘i am groot’ as he jumped from tim’s hand in mid air and into the small pile. tim chuckled as he watched him throw a few leaves up in the air. “i’m gonna gather more of them up okay?” he set off to work on the pile and once he was done groot pointed at the leaves, motioning to tim to join him excitedly with a grin. tim nodded with a wide smile and propelled himself forward at the same time as groot did. all the leaves were scattered as contact was made, and tim was laughing until he noticed groot hadn’t resurfaced. “groot?” after a few moments, the little creature popped its head up, arms in the air and yelling ‘i am groot!’ tim grinned, giggling afterwards at the adorableness that groot was, and then began throwing a few leaves up in the air with groot following suit.

Steve couldn’t help but grin as soon as he saw Groot, not having formally met him before, or at least for long enough to make an impression. He looked the creature up and down and sat cross legged on his bed, using a pillow to cover his chest. “Sorry, I promise I usually wear more, you kinda caught me at a bad time.”
