42 days! They were a long 42 days! I went in for tests and was checked in, because I was severely dehydrated, losing mass amounts of weight (by day 42 I weighed 98lbs), and could hardly stand. This is how I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Two emergency surgeries, one ileostomy, several blood transfusions, and some pretty cool scars later they let me go home. After this, I had 5 months of in-home nurse care and specialist. I lost all of my hair. I had to see the surgeon every 3 weeks and still see my GP once to twice every month, and blood tests every two months. Five years later, I now have a permanent ostomy, my rectum and colon are completely removed (yep my arse is sewen shut), and I've had one hernia repair. The effects of the UC are still present and some days are great, while others are terrible. There isn't much else I can do about it except for make the best of the situation I was given. Although it was a shitty one (pun intended), it could have been a lot worse. From here on out, it is important to build myself up. Take the days as they come, and have as much fun as possible.

Stan Lee Stoma was 4 in May, but it was a year ago today that he became a permanent fixture. Wow a year went fast!
