Thousands of warehouse workers at an Amazon plant in Bessemer, Alabama, are at the center of a potentially game-changing union vote taking place right now. On February 8, the warehouse workers were sent ballots by mail to decide over the next seven weeks if they want to join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU).
Just getting to this point was a major victory considering the aggressive union busting by the world’s largest retailer and the fact that employees are working during a pandemic. If workers vote affirmatively, they would have the first unionized Amazon workplace in the United States.

On Feb. 19, union activists and community groups rallied outside the Los Angeles office of Amazon’s union-busting law firm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Morgan Lewis, a notorious global law firm, has been attacking the union movement for decades. It has backed Amazon on federal tax disputes, hazardous COVID conditions, and discrimination against pro-Black Lives Matters employees.

International Women’s Day was founded on the idea of international solidarity of working and poor women around the globe, and recognized first by the world socialist movement in March 1911. Clara Zetkin was its original heartbeat.

We stand in solidarity with the thousands of Amazon workers in Bessemer, Ala., during their historic union election.
We call on law firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius to stand down! Stop targeting Black workers! End the deceitful and unfair union-busting tactics against these hard-working warehouse workers and allow a free and fair vote for union representation!
