Jude and I are business majors, and Alex is a telecommunications major. The world of business has to do with numbers, and it's a linear field. There's a starting point and you have to work your way to the finish line, however you can. There is also structure in businesses. Companies have several departments within themselves that serve different functions to keep the company going. Without each department working at their best capabilities, a company can crumble. There are different levels of people in an organization as well. You have the factory workers who manufacture products, and then you have their managers. The managers also have supervisors to keep everything in check. Then you have the board of directors and the big boss, the CEO of the organization. Considering all of that, we decided that our project should be a pyramid. A pyramid represents structure and hierarchy, something that is highlighted in a business for it to succeed. Also, much like a pyramid,a business is built from the ground up. We walked around campus to see where we could put our pyramid of balloons, and ultimately decided that it should be located at Trustee Hall, in the front lawn. Trustee Hall is where the advanced business classes are, and we thought it would be appropriate for our pyramid that represents a business hierarchy to be placed there.
The completion of the project itself took a all of class time and a good part of off-class time to complete. We decided upon having 4 levels to our pyramid, and blew 10 balloons up. We then used paper mache and waited for it to dry. Afterwards we painted each level a different color of paint, to emphasize the hierarchy of a business.
