Unless Sue is just pointing out a pretty wardrobe choice and Mark and Steven are just straight-up joking about it, which…is really rather likely.

Anyone want to conjecture? I’m largely unconvinced it means anything, but you never know when it comes to flowers or birds on this show.

I’m just stunned that it’s the one thing no one has meta’d. Every other thing on this show we have examined except this necklace.

Someone with kung fu canon search skills please look for flower necklaces. It’s not a pearl necklace, sadly. So not the Sign of Three pearls. Unless it’s meant to be a VERY oblique reference.

I had a brief thought about the lotus tattoo from TBB but it doesn’t look much like it. Hmm.

That there my friend, is the five-petaled Plumeria or commonly known as Frangipani. 

Frangipani or Plumeria is known for it's two attributes, it overly sweet smell and it's lack of nectar. Which basically makes it a peculiar flower because it smells like it might have the sweetest nectar, but it does not. its hollow in the center. (ringing any bells regarding the context?)

In India (esp.Hinduism), Philippine and most Far-Eastern countries it is a flower of funerals and associated closely with death. 

In Malay folklore it is associated with Vampires and blood thirsty demons. 

I don't know if there is any reference to it in the canon. But as far as symbolism goes, it's pretty obvious, don't you think?
