#bad design

Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?

The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.

These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.

These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.

Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesn’t have these.

Yes, the glass will spontaneously crack or explode in the sun.

sometimes I trawl around on FB Marketplace, and it still shows me apartments from last year when I was looking to move

this looks to be the basement, but if it was all remodeled by the same landlord, I'm betting the upstairs- which was probably once actual living space while this was a service area -isn't much better

This is the 2025 Intous. But what the FUCK is this?? Why the hell would you put the buttons at the top like that? The old design of having them on the side and then making it reversible based on if you were right or left handed worked fantastically. It allowed for you to rest your hand on the side of the tablet with the buttons and quickly activate the ones you needed while you were actually drawing. Now you've got to reach across the whole tablet to access the buttons so you can't just rest your hand there.

And it's $499.

the designs were made by portico designs, a wholesale design company based in the uk. they seem to do a lot of business with barnes and noble. even then, there is a buying process!! a human or a team of humans selected these items. to sell. in a bookshop

let's start with the item that led me down this rabbithole! it came up on depop and i was intrigued.

this tote bag! it's eye catching and unique! it's quite pretty! i wanted one. and then i noticed something odd... this bag just says "why are you?" basically... because we all know (or you're just learning) that wherefore does not mean WHERE. it means why. for what reason. ect. juliet does not say "where is romeo?" she asks WHY his name is romeo montague. because, of course, their families are feuding and their love cannot be!! love the design, hate the execution

this next one is a little funny but it, again, is poorly executed. has anyone read this play? anyone?

enemies to lovers? i mean, TECHNICALLY, yes. romeo and juliet were from enemy families. they very well should have been enemies due to that fact. but romeo and juliet do not at all fit the enemies to lovers trope. it is forbidden love, certainly, but neither ever show animosity towards the other. but also the wording here is clunky if you look close. in teeny tiny font it says "introducing" before "enemies to lovers". that just doesn't make any sense at all. who are the enemies? who are the lovers? when were enemies introduced to them? i think they intended it more like "turning enemies to lovers" but it does not come across that way to me

lastly (before i put the rest under the cut) this candle is going to make me believe in hell if only so that can send the creators there

first of all, that font is hideous and it all looks terribly off center. secondly, ugly as fuck candle. and, worst of all: "dramatic exit. smells like teenage heartbreak and poetic tragedy". i am biting you i'm biting you i'm biting you. like, yeah, yeah. we all love dark jokes and shit but this just misses the mark, and, as a mass marketed product, doesn't have that genuine joking tone to it. it comes off as a very shallow reading of the play. it comes off as incredibly dismissive of romeo and juliet's plight, pain, and eventual suicides. it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. also, i've seen better design choices made by dollar tree

the rest i will put under the cut but these three were the WORST to me. thank you to everyone who reminded me to rant about this you are all enablers and you will suffer for it
