"Look," she sighs. "You're way more interesting than Saint Barbara. You're more real than her, too." She dips down and kisses Barbara, dry and so short, nothing like before. I like the truth of you, Barb." She does it again. "The way you unravel." Again.

Barbara wraps her arms around Melissa's neck. "What you like is that I'm giving into temptation," she counters and kisses Melissa like she's making a point of that statement before Melissa can answer it.

"Call me selfish," Melissa murmurs when they part.

"You know I used to tell myself that I could stop. That I want to stop. And when somebody accused me of being 'Saint Barbara', I would think, yes, I could confess my sins and return to the good ways of the Lord, and they would be right."

Melissa feels a bit sick, but she can't let it show. She feels a bit heartbroken, but she has no right to feel that. "Why didn't you?"

Barbara runs a finger down Melissa's front. "Because you're not temptation."

"Then what am I?"

"Salvation."

If that were true, Melissa thinks, they wouldn't be here. But then again, even Mary Magdalene was a whore before she was a saint. Maybe they can get it right, in the end. But for now, they sink into each other. Patron saints of selfish lovers.

12. how are you?

I'm going okay. I realize I never really have anything new to add other than just working and playing videogames lol. What an exciting life I lead. Got a little bit of stress from work and taking care of my dad, but other than that, nothing too catastrophic is happening.

13. what’s your comfort food?

Ooh, probably going to have to go with katsu curry or chicken tikka masala. I definitely uber eats them more often than I should, but they're so friggin' delicious that when I want to treat myself, I'll order in from a local family shop in the city over.
