I LOVE RICO NASTY I LOVE RICO NASTY I LOVE RICO NASTY!!!
The first time I knew of Rico Nasty was when my best friend sent me a link to a Colors Show video back in 2018.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=RCX5UOodZtw&si=wBrrsXQOg3AlfpTf
When I heard her song Countin' Up, I immediately searched for the lyrics. I never had much exposure to black rock artists, black punk artists or even black metal artists. I honestly only knew white boy bands and Avril Lavigne(They all still have my heart🙌🥹😭 Bless them)
I am forever captivated by the way she delivers her words. They sound really powerful like uhhh. You can feel her vocals run through your whole body.
The feeling makes you think, "Yea you know what, I don't know why I'm stressing myself about another person/entity when I'm LITERALLY me. The world DOES revolve around me. I know who I am and what I fucking deserve. FUCK YOU!!"
The confidence I would/still feel from listening to her music is out of this world. Baby that's TALENT🔥🔥
If it wasn't for my bsf sending me that link, I wouldn't have known her. Fuck I wouldn't have thought it was possible to be an alternative as a black woman. I wasn't on the Internet like crazy back then. Trust me when I say I didn't bother to do my research. I only consumed what I saw with no questions asked.
Being punk/goth/emo (overall alternative) where I grew up is considered rude, evil, possessed, wanting attention, and trying to embody something you're not... seeing her thrive made me feel extremely happy and giddy inside.
A part of me is a bit sad that she is seen as just a rapper by many but I truly believe that she doesn't focus on that. Her audience loves her and she loves all her fans. She knows she's an artist and we appreciate that.
I also know that Rico has touched the lives of young alternative poc women in many countries. Come on now🙄🙄
Anyway, go and stream her recent album. Son Of A Gun is a great song, however, I would like to recommend this one song because it took me back to the days when I would listen to BRAND NEW or MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE(and many more). I love it a lot🥹🧡
dont have much to post but heres sum more of meee ^.^
