Everybody loves memes

They both have older brothers who are amazing at the things that they do, and have an inferiority complex about it.

despite being amazing at the things that they can do, it’s not to the standards that their prodigy brothers have set.

(you cannot tell me kou is weak after this)

Because of this inferiority complex, they both develop an unhealthy desire to be needed by the people they love:

naoki does whatever shizuka asks him without questioning her, down to BURYING A FREAKING DEAD BODY AND (nearly) GETTING HIMSELF LOCKED UP FOR IT

They both think that no one else is able to help them in the way they want, but also feel incredibly useless when it comes to them. kou feels inferior about Tsukasa being “able to do more for Mistuba” than he is (tho he’s the one who makes him actually feel happy. Naoki tried helping shizuka many times in the past, but wa rejected every time (until the marina death incident), so he felt guilty about that

However unlike kou, naoki feels that something's wrong about his actions, whereas kou hasn’t completely concluded how much he’s harming Mitsuba (and himself) by forcing him to live (in some sense).

 Both of them have a confrontation with their big bros later down the line, (takopi ch.10 and tbhk ch.97) which helps them communicate and solve (some of) their problems.

(I wasn’t sure what the best panel for the tbhk one was sorry)

Both get almost instant crushes on the fmcs that eventually fade (because they’re quite superficial and mainly based off of physical appearance)

(This is mainly a headcanon on kou’s part, but I think both their crushes resemble their mothers who they respect and love a lot:
