Experiencing Things Physical (Mesa Verde National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Experiencing Things Physical While capturing things with my eye Walking forward, backward, and spinning around I have the gift of time spent And a wondering mind It's magical and explainable A story told in words and photos by me Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in Mesa Verde National Park while taking in views from an overlook at the Cedar Tree Tower. In composing this image, I took advantage of some high ground I was on to capture a view looking down the canyon and then across the Colorado and national park landscape to my front. I like how the canyon and cliff walls help to create a channelized feel in the image. The rest was moving around until I found an opening with the nearby tree remains from wildfire damage and then aligning myself to center the canyon in the image center, more or less. I later worked with control points and lines in DxO PhotoLab 7 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Forest Paradise in Copper Falls State Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While hiking along the Doughboy Trail in Copper Falls State Park with a view extending to the southeast through a clearing in the nearby forest. In composing this image, I took advantage of higher ground I was located on from this overlook and angled my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to capture a more sweeping view across this setting (and minimizing what I felt was the negative space of the overcast skies). Wisconsin. I liked how through the clearing one can see the Bad River flowing by.

Feeling Life's Energy While Exploring Biscayne National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast while walking along the shore of Boca Chita Key in Biscayne National Park. What I wanted to capture with this image, was to angle my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward, bringing the horizon a little higher into the image, so that I could have a sweeping view looking across the shoreline with the mangrove tree area as a distant backdrop along with blue skies above. I later cropped portions of the foreground to create a wide-angle, panoramic feel.
