Whā oh no, he didnāt know how to answer this one. While he wasnāt really that acquainted with B-ka, he didnāt want to kick the poor kid in the shin either. He just didnāt deserve it, and he had a sinking feeling that the brunet would wibble under even a tap and fall over. Kaito didnāt like to judge (although he did it anyway) based on appearances alone, but he was so sure of this.
(But tiny people had picked him up in the past?)
The thief seated himself beside the smaller teen, eyes flickering about nervously before he coughed out his sudden opposition and spoke up. All in all, asking him wasnāt the worst thing he could do, comparing it to injuring him needlessly, and come to think of it, he was sure B-ka felt the same way. Rejection was a form of flattery and understanding in this situation, right?
āSo⦠uh, I heard that a new town opened up this week, and that itās got a lot of cute things there.ā Kaito began slowly, his finger running in pointless circles against his kneecap. āI was wondering if you wanted go to check it together, like⦠you know.ā The prompted silence was a result of yet again, more hesitation. He scooted away, trying to keep impersonal and maybe because he was slightly cautious of his own words, because like hell he wanted to make a bad intent on B-kaās impression of him.
āA dateā or somethingā¦ā
That was...um. Well. Very, um--hm. How was he supposed to respond to a date proposal...? Heād never been asked out before, so he had no prior experience to draw on--and frankly, not knowing what to say only increased his fluster and deepened the (embarrassing!) blush on his cheeks.
Despite the occasional mean remark, Kaito was a good person, and B-ka honestly wouldnāt have minded getting to know him a little better, but...through a date, of all things? Although a solid enough method of learning about someone, that kind of thing was...--h-he really wasnāt interested in that sort of...relationship...
At the same time, though, maybe--just maybe--this could...?
āUm... W-Well...ā B-ka fiddled anxiously with the ends of his sleeves, eyes glued to his shoes a moment before he finally worked up the courage to look up again.Ā āI donāt know about a...a d-date...but...if youāre interested at all, maybe--maybe we could go as...friends...?ā
Was it presumptuous of him to refer to them as āfriendsā already...? He hoped not. Itād be terrible if he made this anymore awkward for Kaito than he had already...
