Claudia's song is used as a metaphor for her life. "I don't like windows when they're closed." But when she opens it and 'flies' out, she falls to her death. She's depicted recurringly stopped from flying away by her nanny (Lestat), while her mother (Louis) turns a blind eye. Her jumping out the window is a metaphor for her finding her freedom only to be met with pain. The first time, with Bruce. And the second time, with the coven. Every time she's attempted to find herself through her freedom, she's been hurt, and at last, when she's finally found her purpose (Madeline), she dies.
I legit saw someone say "they need to make a 2nd movie where they figure out how to get rid of the entity!" And. What.
The whole goddamn point of the movie is that this is hatred and fear you have to learn to live with- in SPITE of it. Is it horrible what happened to them?? Yes. Of course it is. Is the whole idea of the entity to be a physical representation of homophobia? ALSO yes. Its also stated quite clearly in the movie that there's no way to reverse it. Finding a way to "get rid of it" is not only unrealistic, but it goes against the fucking premise of the movie. Not all movies need to have a sunshine and rainbows ending.
