Photographed in Karachi, Pakistan | March 2013. This 22 year old young man sought speech therapy for dysfluent speech. We are so very proud of how far he has come. He not only volunteered to be photographed, he also asked so bravely if he could write his name down. Also goes to show how he's not embarrassed by being guilty of seeking speech therapy. Way to break the barriers! We are so so so proud of him, and he is such an inspiration to us all :) The message that he has written is so accurate, because surviving dysfluency has become his strength and he is NOT ashamed of it! Because in the end, it really is okay. For those of you who don't know, dysfluent speech comprises stammering and stuttering, what is commonly known in our society as 'haklaana,' and yes, IT CAN BE CORRECTED! Speech therapists are definitely unsung heroes :)

Who doesn't love a true story of courage? :)
