Justitia was introduced by emperor Augustus, and was thus not a very old deity in the Roman pantheon. Since the 16th century, Lady Justice has often been depicted wearing a blindfold. The blindfold represents impartiality, the ideal that justice should be applied without regard to wealth, power, or other status. It also represents every deadly poison which can kill anyone - even the inventor - once you consume it. There is no excuse that you must not die! She was blindfolded so she cannot know any body while executing judgement to the fairness of law and justice, be it the only son or daughter of the family, uncle, mother and father etc. That's why the Latin said: Ignorantia juris non excusat or ignorantia legis neminem excusat (for "ignorance of the law excuses not" and "ignorance of law excuses no one" respectively). This is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely because one was unaware of it. In a similar vein, the French said: "il n'y a aucune excuse pour l'ignorance de la loi", which means that "ignorance of the law is no excuse." Ignorance of the law does not excuse one from liability. Sep 22, 2018 Born in New Mexico to a Mexican immigrant family 🇲🇽 she has dedicated her life to championing Farmworker's Rights. ✊🏾 One of her most important contributions has been co-founding--along with Cesar Chavez--what eventually became United Farm Workers (UFW).
The lettuce, grape, and wine boycotts she planned in the 1970s helped lead to the passage of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act which finally allowed California farmworkers to bargain collectively.
