I'm not obsessed with 9-1-1, and I definitely did not just learn what "stagger" in aviation means... simply because I grew interested in finding out which aircraft model is hanging from the ceiling in "Buck"s room" in Mother's Boy 🤡!
(Btw correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the aircraft might be a Beechcraft Model 17 "Staggerwing", which also goes by the nickname "Stag"? So basically, the biplane aircraft hanging from the ceiling in Buck's 🦌prison might have been a Stag 🦌? Lol, what a charming and not at all ominous room! But I'm really not sure, I don't know much about aviation and 🎼planes don't come easyyyy to meeee 🎶)
Anyway, if I've got the aircraft type right, I'm thinking maybe it was an Easter Egg foreshadowing Buck's upcoming addiction storyline 🤪? I mean... if there was indeed "a stag" hanging from the ceiling in that room...? Think of the implications of that detail!
"Traditionally, game meat was hung until "high" or "gamey", that is, approaching a state of decomposition."
That stag had been hanging there for years and years, must have been "high" as a kite!
I saw the tag on that airport Vampire post you reblogged. This one--> "The real airport vampires are the night shift ground crew actually"
And with the knowledge that you once worked at an airport....I get the feeling you got some StoriesTM Max. Care to share some? :3
So the airport I worked at didn't actually have a nightshift per se, because we supposedly closed the office at 7 during the busy season, and 5 during the off season
However
The runway didn't technically close until much later, and if someone wanted to fly in or out late, we were obliged to offer afterhours services. I actually liked doing afterhours for a couple of reasons; 1) I didn't get to actually work the ramp much during the day in the busy season bc I had become the defacto office manager at some point, and 2) I got overtime on top of afterhours commission, plus any tips that were given. Now, because of these monetary gains, I did offer the afterhours spots to the rest of the crew first, because I knew I was getting a better hourly rate because I was a supervisor, but I still ended up with a good number of afterhours that I worked
Now nothing too crazy happened on any of the afterhours I worked at the airport (at least, compared to some of the other stuff that happened to me on dayshift or at other jobs), but it was certainly A Vibe!! And I did spend a whole night there once during a hurricane bc my bosses were worried the roads would be closed in the morning and someone needed to be on-site at the airport to at least clear enough debris for the medevac helicopter to land if necessary (thankfully not necessary, everyone was fine, and I got a free night in a 5 star hotel)
I did have a really fucking wild experience driving home from an afterhours service one night though
However it's Christmas morning so I'm going to put a pin in that thought and will return in a few hours to regale everyone with the time I either briefly drove into a wormhole or had the most vivid hallucination ever for approx. 10 seconds
This is such an interesting plane to see.
I enjoyed watching the video and hearing about the ATC stuff from this guy best know as Kennedy Steve.
