Part 1 80 years later.
The sound was becoming louder and louder. Loki has been chasing it for the last four months. He had several headaches because of it. Every time that he was trying to ignore it or was doing something wrong, it could feel the sound buzzing inside his head. Now, he could recognise the direction that was communicated to him. He hoped that he was close to the end. He needed his mind peaceful. However, he didn't think it would be the case anyway. He knew that it was his punishment for what he did on Misgard. The only reason he was hiding in plain side was because he knew that Thor will never look for him here.
He finally opened the door. The lullaby echoed in his head louder than ever. He passed four people frozen. He looked at them, but he could feel that none of them what who he was looking for. He continued to go down. The sound finally stopped for a slip second. When Loki opened the door, he took his head in his hands. The sound was so loud that he thought his head exploded. When he finally was able to stand up, he saw you. He approached the pod. The sound became the sweet lullaby that he had heard so many times before. He looked for a way to wake you up.
When the pod finally opens, he sees you fall. He catches you before you hit the ground and puts you down gently before looking for a cover or anything to warm you. He can't find anything. He looks at you. You seemed so fragile. He doesn't like seeing you like this which is so strange to him. He removes his coat and puts it on you. He takes you in his arms. He wanted to find a way to help you. He wasn't sure that the teleportation would work, but he didn't have a choice. He kept you tight against him.
Once he is finally sure that his teleportation worked perfectly and that you had no sequel, he puts you on the bed and went to take some covers. You were still shivering. He monitored your progresses before you wake up. The sound finally gone.
You can feel your body waking up. You keep your eyes closed wondering what happened. You don't know what you are lying on, but it's way too soft for it to be a bed. You hear someone move. You stay still until you can't hear anything. You finally open your eyes. Feeling Loki's presence, you turned ready to fight, but you find nothing next to you. You see the God, and before you can say anything, he speaks to you.
"You are fine. You are safe."
"Where I am? Are you a guard? I already told them that I don't know where he is."
"I don't know what you are talking about. I just rescued you from a machine."
You look around confused. Everything was green, but there were no pictures or art. You didn't understand what was happening. The room seems like a very wealthy one. It was bigger than what you ever had with night stands, heavy curtains, and a full lamp . You touch the covers and see two of them. They were really soft. There is even a king size bed which you only had when you had enough money to buy one with Steve. This one seems even really fancy.
"You must be really rich."
He looks at you confused.
It's been three weeks since you woke up. You didn't understand how it was possible that seventy years have passed. It was so confusing. Everything was different, and you didn't know how to feel. Strangely, next to Loki, you weren't angry. You were just lost. You didn't know how to explain to people what happened or even to yourself. How will you explain who you are in a job interview. Loki told you that you didn't have to worry and that papers will arrive soon for you. It will be like you were born not too long ago. You were thankful for what he was doing for you. You were just wondering how he knew all of this but preferred not to say anything yet.
You felt yourself wanting to throw up again. You thought it was an effect of the long cold, but you had to admit that it started to be too long for it to be that.
"Maybe you should see a doctor."
"And I will pay with what? I can't."
"I already told you. What mine is yours. Just take the money. You need to know what's going on. I can come with you if you want."
You nod. You knew he was right but you didnât want to be more of a burden for him. He tried to make you relax. After going to different clinic, you were finally able to find a doctor who was able to take you without delays.
"We are going to do some blood tests. The results will tell us more about what you have.."
Four days later, you were back in the office. Loki was still present with you. He kept your hand in his to soothe you. You didn't know what you would do without him. He was a still a stranger but it always felt like more.
"Congratulations, you are pregnant."
"I am what?"
"Pregnant."
"But I didn't..."
"Did you not have sex?"
"Yes, I did, but it was a very, very long time ago."
"We are going to do an ultrasound to be sure."
You looked at Loki, scared. How could you be pregnant? The baby should be dead if you were pregnant for more than seventy years. The only thing that you could think about was the serum."
You barely felt the cold on your stomach. Itâs like you were out of your body but still having your mind buzzing.
"Here it is, a beautiful baby."
You looked at the screen in shock while Loki kept his hand on your shoulder.
The drive home was quiet. You needed to understand what was happening. You couldn't be pregnant. The last time that you had sex was decades ago. It was before the serum, before you lose the love of your life. After breaking up with Steve, you didn't sleep with anybody. He was actually your first and only boyfriend. When he broke your heart, you were so devasted that you didn't think about getting revenge by sleeping with someone else. Soon after, you were under Hydra's possession. You donât remember a lot, just a strange feeling and state; you body doing what it wanted.
You were watching the TV, enjoying a quiet moment. Loki was preparing the food when you saw him. Your heart stopped for a second. His face didn't change. He didn't change since the last time that you saw him. It was eighty years ago. Your heart arched again. God, he was still so beautiful; his blue eyes made you want to run to him, to hug him and feel his warmth around you. You wanted to feel safe again against him. His eyes were the only traits that didn't change with his smile. You still had trouble accepting his feature. You were so used to his skinny and fragile body. You could feel the pain coming back. You thought you were down with hurting, but apparently, you were wrong. You can feel your hurt racing. Loki came next to you, and he can feel that something is wrong. Since you woke up, he had faculties to read you, like if you were connected. He didn't know how, and the sensation was still strange for him. He never felt anything like this before.
"What's going on?"
"It's him."
Loki turned to watch the tv.
He didn't understand who you were talking about. He was looking at the news of his former enemies. He turned back at you.
"I think it's the father of my child. Steve. Steve Rogers. I just don't understand how he is still alive."
"Steve is your former companion?"
You nodded. You felt like you wronged Loki. You looked at the screen. You couldn't believe that you were seeing him. He was supposed to be dead or really, really old. How could he still look the same? Was it the serum? Was it a curse?
It has been five months since you woke up. Five months of learning about this new world. It was still so confusing for you. A lot of the things that you were seeing only futuristic ideas when you went under ice or not at all ideas. There were still some things that were dreams. Loki was helping the best he could, but you could feel that often he was as confused and unprepared as you were. He didn't tell you yet where he was coming from. You just knew that it was not from Brooklyn or this century. You didnât push him to tell you the truth. However, you needed some answers. You wanted to know more about him. You wanted to be more connected to him. He was the only person that you knew, and he felt like he wasn't completely honest with you, which always trouble you a little.
You were making the diner when you stop yourself.
"Loki, can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Why do you always have a different from when we are inside and outside?"
You weren't stupid. When he was inside the house, he was this tall, muscular, dark haired man. Outside, he was smaller and heavier with blond hair. You just couldn't understand how it was possible. A serum was one thing, but that kind of magic was totally other one. He looked at you. He was wondering when you would ask it.
"When I would have tell you, you will leave me."
"I promise I won't."
"You can not make promises like this."
"Loki. I promise. I just want to know more about you."
He wasn't sure if he should tell you the truth. You would leave him and he will be alone again. He didn't want you to leave him. You were the only connection that he had here. You were the only thing that ever seemed right in his life, like you were meant to be together, like maybe, he wasnât supposed to be alone. He also knew that you needed the truth if he wanted you to fully adapt to this new world and to him.
"I am changing my appearance because people hate me. I went to war with New York a few years ago. I destroyed the city and I killed people, many of them. If I show my true face, I will go into a prison in Asgard for the rest of my life with the key thrown away.â
"Oh, I... it's hard for me to imagine. What's Asgard?"
"It is the truth. I did horrible things before I met you. Things that I regret but canât change. Asgard is the planet where I am from. This is why I can change appearances. I have mafic inside me."
"That makes sense, I guess. Why do you stay here then? I don't think I would ever be able to stay somewhere where people hate me."
"Nobody will think about looking for me on this planet. The Avengers and especially my brother must think that I left and never stay here."
You were sad for him, feeling you heart break. He might have done terrible things but he was the one there for you. He was the only one protecting you.
"Isn't it lonely to not be able to be who you are?"
"I have always been lonely. Nobody truly cared about me. It is the same here. I am just not use to this world and his costumes."
"Well, I do care about you. You are not alone anymore. I am here for you. I will always be."
You hugged him. It might be strange to be with a killer, but at the same time, you might have done worse under the serum. You will never truly remember. You just felt like months of your life were missing, like you lived a dream behind someone else eyes.
You screamed. The dolour was too much to bear. You never felt this before. Your body seemed to almost get ripped in half.
"Lokiiii'
He took your hand in his, looking at you with love.
"I am here, Darling, I am here. Breathe for me, deep breath."
You gripped his hand tighter, piercing it with your nails. You couldnât do it anymore. You couldnât push. You were tired and wanted to stop. Why did it have to hurt so much? Wasnât it suppose a miracle? A miracle shouldnât it be painless? Loki took a bit of your pain away. He didnât want you to hurt but he also didnât want the nurses to feel like something was strange.
After several hours, you finally brought a beautiful baby into the world. You couldn't believe it. You were exhausted and would love to sleep. However, you wanted to see your baby.
"Congratulation. She is a perfect and healthy little girl."
The nurse put your daughter into your arms. She already had Steve blonds hair but she was so cute, frowning. You never thought that could feel so much love for someone, especially someone that you ever met before.
"What will be her name?"
"Lena Frigga Anastasia."
"Frigga?"
You nodded. You didn't tell him before. You just talked about baby names. You told him that if you had a little girl, you wanted to call her Lena. You thought about changing it for Frigga. Loki had told you about his mom and how close he was to her, how he was the only one that truly loved him. You wanted him to know how much he meant to you. Everything that he did meant to you more than you could say. You just couldn't really abandon the choice of name that you had all your life, letting slip Lena's name more than once. You knew that if you called her differently, you will always mispronounced her name.
Loki heard you sing the lullaby. It felt like he was back months ago. At least it wasn't as persistent as before. At one point, he hated this song. It was marked in his head. Now that it was you singing it, he liked it more and was falling in love with it. It felt like it made sense, your soft voice filing the room. Loki wondered if it was you or Lena that sent him to you.
He looked at you rock Lena. He could stay like this forever. He loved seeing you maternal. You were so gentle and patient with her. You looked like the perfect mother, which made him smile.
"Shhh, you need to let mommy sleep. Your mom might be the strongest and most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life, but she needs to sleep if you want her to play with you."
You stepped in the corridor. Lenaâs cries woke you up, and you were surprised that they stopped. You looked at Loki in the dark. His voice was so low that it almost didn't meet your ears. You couldnât stop looking at him. The way that he held Lena made you fall for him more each time. He was made for this. He was made to be a father. Everything that he did since he knew that you were pregnant was for you to feel comfortable and not exhaust yourself. He wanted to protect you. You had a really hard believing that he tried to rule Earth and be the monster that he called himself.
It's been a few weeks since you realised that you wanted more with Loki. You could feel butterflies every time that you were seeing him. However, you didn't trust your heart to not be broken again. Steve had broken it beyond repair. You gave it to him, imagining your life with him, having children, and growing old together. You were afraid that Loki would do the same. You weren't sure you would be able to survive another heartbreak.
"What are you thinking about?"
"I was wondering what to make for diner."
It was a lie, of course, but the best that you could give him right now. He could tell that you weren't telling the truth, but he wanted to give you space.
It's been eight months since Lena was born. The routine that you had with Loki made you feel safe. He was the one providing for the three of you and you felt often useless, but he told you not to think about this. You had a child to think about, and it was the most important thing right now. He wanted you to enjoy your time with your daughter, and you couldn't be more thankful. So each day, you were trying your best to help, cleaning, cooking, being a perfect little housewife. You didn't mind, which was strange because the two of you were just friends. Friend? Yes just friends. You couldnât let yourself get lost in love again.
You have been sleeping in the same bed as Loki for a few weeks now. Your relationship was progressing slowly. You told him that you weren't ready for a relationship. You loved Steve too much and were afraid to hurt again. Your heart has been crashed when he broke up with you. Loki seemed different, like he would never hurt you but Steve promised you the same thing years ago. You were really confused. You didn't know what to do. You could see feel Loki being patient but you didn't know for how long he will agree to this.
You woke up screaming. Loki immediately put the light on. You were shaking. He took you in his arms.
"Everything is alright. You are safe."
You stayed in his arms. You didn't have a nightmare since you woke up. This one was still vivid. You were trapped under Hydra's influence, not being able to move or think by yourself. You could feel and see what you were doing but you had no control. Loki told you a few months ago that it happened to him, too. The intentions were different but now he was sure that it wasn't really him, like if a vail was on his memories.
He hugged you tighter. You looked at him and got lost in his blue eyes. You close the few centimetres separating you from him. You kissed him softly first, then deepened the kiss. You remove the lair off his shoulders.
"Are you sure this is what you want?"
"I have been wanted you for a long time Loki. I am sure."
He kissed you, making sure that you were ok with it. You made love for the first time that night, being safe in his arms.
Loki tried his hardest to not push you too hard. He knew that he needed to give you time and space for you to feel what he was feeling. It was his first time feeling like this. His sentiments were duplicated by more than a thousand times. He never thought he would feel like this, always thinking that he was meant to be alone and unloved. He was always seen had the bad brother, the lesser one, the tricky one. How could he be deserving of anything else?
He looked at you. He remove a strand of your hair before finally revealing something that was on his heart for so long.
"I love you"
You froze. You knew that you felt more than just a friendship for him. You just weren't ready. You will not be ready for along time.
"That's alright, you don't have to say it back. I just wanted you to know."
You smiled at him. You felt guilty for not feeling the same way. He was the perfect man for you, the perfect father. You felt like you needed to explain, to get an excuse.
"I don't want to hurt again. I know you mean well, but if you find someone else, I am not sure I will survive."
"Darling, I will not find someone else. I only want you."
"You are saying this right now but we don't know what might happen"
"That's true but I am not ready to let you go. Either you or Lena. I love you both, you know that right?"
You nodded. You knew that he meant it but you only thought about how he could be here one day and the next just want to go to war or have revenge. You talked a lot before, opening to each other. He knew about Steve and what he did to you. You knew about Loki's past. Well not everything, more than one thousand years were a lot.
Lena felt on the grass. She hurt herself a little bit and was crying. You didn't have time to be here that Loki was already beside her, his father reactions kicking fast. She immediately hugged him. She was a daddy's girl. Their connection was really strong, and you couldn't be more thankful. In the beginning, you were afraid that Loki would hurt her by leaving you. You thought that maybe he would be tired of being a father and realised that it wasn't what he wanted. However, it's been three years since Lena was born, and he was still here, taking care of her like she was his.
You had just put Lena in bed when you saw candles all over the living room. You couldn't talk. It was beautiful. With the small amount of time that he had, Loki had to use his magic. He move the sofa and the table to give you space, putting a cover on the floor. He prepared an indoor pick-nick. You loved it and when you looked at the ceiling, it felt like if you were outside and a sky full of star. He would have love for it to be real but that would have mean waiting a few more months for Summer to be here and he couldn't do that. He wanted to ask you now, the day where he finally find you. Yes, you weren't awake but it was the first time that he saw you, the first time that he felt like it was it, like he was meant to be with you.
After eating and passing the rest of the evening cuddling and enjoying the time just between the two of you, Loki was on his knee for you. If you said no, he knew that he couldn't be mad at you. Even with all this time spent together, he knew that you were still protecting yourself from being hurt. Steve had done a lot of damage and Loki hated him so much for making you doubt his love.
âMy dear Y/N, four years ago I found you in Siberia, frozen but still alive. Since the moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew that I would not want any other way than to be by your side. I was drown to you by your lullaby. Now, I am drown to you by your spirit, your kindness, your personality, your doubts, your fears but mostly your love. You have the biggest heart I ever saw in my life and I have been around for a few centuries. You accept me for who I am, my human side like my Jotun side, you make me feel like I deserve all of this, like I deserve you and Lena, like I deserve to be a part of your family. I want you to know that I love you more than anything in this world, that you have taken my heart and that I do not want it back. I want you to keep it for the rest of your life because I am yours and yours only. And if you accept it, I would love for you to be mine and to show you each day how much you mean to me. Y/N, Will you make me the honour of being my wife?â
Tears have been falling from your eyes. You had never thought that this day would come. You excepted it from someone else decades ago but not now, not with Loki. You knew that he loved you but you also knew that he was a God and you were a simple mortal and will be dead way before him. Your lives have been bound strangely but you would never want it any other way. You thought that receiving the serum was a curse, a nightmare but finding Loki, being with him each day made you realised that it was a blessing. You have been in love once before and you would have giving everything to be with Steveâs wife. Now, in this moment, you realised that he was never the one for you. Steve would have never been satisfied with a simple life. He would have always look for another war, another injustice to fight but you, you were a lover, not a fighter. Loki didnât want to fight, he wanted this life with you, with your daughter, he was showing you how much you meant to him by proposing, knowing that maybe you would refuse. How could you refuse him?
âWhen I met you, I was heart broken. I never thought that I could ever love someone else again. I never wanted to feel that pain again but you, you have been so patient with me. You have loved be unconditionally, you had shown me that I deserved to be loved, that you will not leave me or Lena and that we were on this together. You trusted me with your secrets, the good like the bad ones. I felt in love with you a long time ago even if I didnât want to admit it at that time. I love you Loki, I love you so much and I will spend the rest of my life showing it to you. Of course, I want be your wife.â
You jumped on him, hugging him tight, your arms around in neck. You were still crying. You stayed like this, whispering sweet things in each other ears. After a while, he pushed you away, kissing the tears of your face. He looked at you with love and a smirk.
âSo my love, do you want the ring or not?â
He shows you the ring that was still in his hand. You laughed, showing him your hand for him to finally make the statement that he was waiting for years.
