A thought just struck me this evening. When Bert traveled back to the Present with a young Aven (I think she was five or ten?) and became the Caveo Tertius of his Trio, I just realized Aven gained two Uncles. Imagine that! Being raised by big nerd and future Prime Caretaker Jules Verne, and Adventurer extraordinaire Stellan Sigurdson! I imagine Stellan was the one to teach her all sorts of Swashbuckling know how. When dealing with her first love with Jamie (that was the case right? I’m not misremembering that am I) her Uncles are far more supportive than her dad. And when she gets over that, who else but Uncle Jules to swoop in and introduce this handsome young Captain of the Nautilus. Uncle Jules could be shipping Trash. And just imagine the family vacations. Aven, her dad, and her Uncles visiting all sorts of places thanks to the Lanterna Magica and Uncle Jules’ Dusenberg. Stellan teaching her how to Sail. Jules teaching her how to drive And when Aven earns the rank of Captain of the Indigo Dragon you can bet Stellan and Jules are doing there best to hold back tears. (Also I imagine the only reason Aven wasn’t given the role of Caretaker is due to her being too concerned with running her Ship? I don’t know). None of this has textual evidence that I can recall. But I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that Aven had a close if not closer relationship to Jules and Stellan than Rose has with her own Uncles. Make of this what you will. I don’t actually ship JackAven but I needed to get my Aven design finalized and I wasn’t going to pass up a chance to draw eighteen-year-old HTBD Jack. I’m reasonably proud of how they turned out, too?
