Useful whisker-like ones for small bots like Ravage and/or spies/covert bots who need to hide and crawl in small spaces to feel their environment and gauge whether they can fit in the spaces. Maybe even help slightly lighten up dark spaces.
When Cybertron isn't at war, there are many cybertronians who performed in some way (dancing, concerts, etc) that would outfit themselves with these cables which they would then use (glowing on and off, glowing different colours for different effects, fluffing them out and pulling them in from their body, etc) in their performance choreography.
