This is what people mean when they say "scale-creep" in 40k.
I know right; that looks like a serious problem.
Getting updated models in every edition of 40k must suck!
Boy howdy it must be a massive pain in the neck having to deal with such terrible inconsistency with scale.
Games Workshop should be ashamed of such shoddy craftsmanship.
Y'know, I'm sorry you invested so much money in a single faction that has been the incorrect scale/anatomy for years.
Makes me wonder why Space Marines took off as much as they did; when you really look at them, the old Space Marine models are some of the worst proportioned models in the range, compared to others from the same era.
I think Space Marine players need to be quiet about scale-creep; they have had the privilege of consistent support and updates for over a decade.
Whilst Space Marine players were opening the newest starter set, eager to add the new Space Marine models they are guaranteed to get in every edition, and then bemoaning that the models were a few millimeters bigger than the older ones, a lot of other players/collectors had to live with the uncertainty of whether or not their non-Space Marine army would even get a Codex that Edition.
And A LOT of Space Marine players were dicks about it too.
"Space Marines deserve all the updates cos they're the most popular"
"40k should just be Space Marines vs Space Marines anyway - that way the game will be easier to balance and we wouldn't have these minor factions to worry about"
"Only weeb assholes play Tau"
"Tyranids are an NPC army"
"Dark Eldar are going to be squatted in this Edition, so they don't need updates"
"Who cares about Necrons"
"Sisters of Battle are too unpopular to ever get an update; they're only good for armour paint ha ha"
And I'm sure other Grognards in the community have heard similar BS.
Despite what Games Workshop share-holders tried to do in the 2000's and early 2010's, 40k is a game with a diverse roster of factions. And now, thankfully, armies other than Space Marines are getting regular support as well...
Though, Chaos Daemons didn't get a codex in 10th Edition - which is a bit rude.
Scale-Creep only affected one faction, and it was only noticeable because that one faction got regular updates every edition and multiple sculpts for the same character And individual Codexes and model ranges for each sub-faction AND limited edition models...
It was not a problem for a lot of 40k players; most of which just wanted to not have to use 20+ year old models for their non-Space Marine army - regardless of scale.
