As an autist, I would like to bring to your attention how absolutely horrendous Autism Speaks is.

Collecting DNA data in order to discover actual treatments and cures for actual diseases is science, and it is awesome.

A friend of mine just had his mother tell him that she would have wanted to "cure" him if she could. He was almost incomprehensible on the phone when he called me and the conversation only lasted three and half minutes. In class today, we talked about random stuff like progressive rock bands and a novel he's writing. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but he basically implied a story line of this: 1) rants about why Autism Speaks is bad; 2) his mom explains how she would want to "cure" him; 3) he reacts poorly; 4) she punishes him for reacting poorly. I'm going to end this rant the only way I can, with a quote of course!

One is from Autism Speaks' website/videos, and the other is from a Nazi or other Social Darwinist/Eugenicist.
