@katy-l-wood made me aware that Amazon has started posting AI-generated reviews on books, and while the Hunger Pangs one is flattering (thank you to everyone still leaving reviews), I can't help but wonder how this can go wrong.
Like I get it's just pulling things from the human-written reviews, but what if someone posts spoilers? Will the AI review post that? What qualifies some books for AI reviews and not others? Enquiring and wary minds want to know...
Also, if there's a way to opt out of it on the author end. I can't find it.
Like I know this is just a continuation of the AI reviews they've been using in their marketplace for a while now, but considering those reviews are prone to being, y'know, altered by bots writing false reviews, it's making me wonder if it will affect book rankings.
Not sure how. I'm just... Hm. Yeah. Not sure I like the potential for fuckery.
there are two wolves inside me one is incessantly chasing plot bunnies no matter how much the other wolf is desperately trying to finish my wips nobody wins and im sobbing on the floor
Me reading my own fic: dang this is cool what happens next!
wait-
Hey Witxhes!! it's been so long and I miss y'all and Bad Witch sooo fucking much. apparently I greatly underestimated the difference between healing a single rib fracture and trying [and failing at least twice] to get them all to set in harmony. it was a whole thing and it took a lot out of me, each day, to the point where even updating tumblr seemed out of my reach.
I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things, even if that means relying a bit more on voice to text apps than before. but I'm getting there! I won't promise anymore post dates for the new draft but I'm writing and still looking forward to sharing with y'all ✨

I'm Rory. 35+, nonbinary cryptid living in the mysterious PNW. I write Buggy 98% of the time on this blog, the other 2% is Marco. I've been doing this since October and loving every second of it!
Under the read more tho because I struggle with taking posed photos and I took way too many. 😂
u guys,,, I just realized they fucked up my “About the Author” on the Barnes and Noble website lmao
I am All-Seeing; omniscient, apparently, for I watch Everything™️
(Oh here’s the link btw. If u want to see it/buy it/whatever. "it" being my book ab gay yearning. and depression.)
look. i know there’s been a lot of debate over this topic recently, and a lot of people have said it, but I feel like it needs to be reiterated.
fanfic writers owe you NOTHING.
and before you go, “but they-“ no. you are owed literally nothing.
these authors put out their hard work, their time, their effort, their little hyperfixations, their comfort stories, their ideas, their ART. it’s one of the most uncomfortable feelings; you’re essentially allowing the world to see part of yourself. it’s awkward, painful, and hard.
not only that, but authors write for themselves first. so when I say it’s part of them, I MEAN IT IS LITERALLY PART OF THEM. IT WAS NOT EVEN ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOR YOU. YOU JUST GET THE PLEASURE OF ENJOYING IT TOO.
so when you write comments about how you didn’t like it, wanted something else, wanted it faster, wished you could exclude a part you didn’t like, insult a choice of wording, mention that you think a particular plot point was stupid, etc., etc., MAYBE- POSSIBLY- CONSIDER THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT AT ALL ENCOURAGING TO WRITERS.
leave kudos. a sweet comment. bookmark it. reblog. any of these things. please, please, please just appreciate your writers, your artists, the different people in your fandoms. don’t like it? don’t read. don’t leave a like. there’s no reason to do anything else. just move on with your life peacefully.
have a nice day.
