my school doesn’t give us lockers and the amount of people who complain about back pain and having days off because of their backs hurting is too fucking much.
It’s Tuesday and I’m not at school. The schools year isn’t quite over yet either.
I’m also in New South Wales.
Which means that Teachers are on strike today.
(Or at least the ones in my area)
Not much use going to school if no one’s going to teach us anything.
Looking back my school was weird as hell
like im talking primary school but there’s a couple reasons
we had this thing with a local wildlife rescue person that basically meant we had like 3 school wallabies (aka tiny kangaroos for the americans) and like they were meant to be for the year sixes to take care of but somehow my year 5 ass got into it the most because it was a split class. but year they all had names and their own blankets we wrapped them in to feed.
our choir was fucking massive in relation to the school like out of 300 odd kids 50 were in the choir. the choir only let year 3-6 be in it as well so thats like 50/150. also they took us out of classes for prac like i missed so much math because i was singing abba.
we legit went on an excursion that was ‘lets walk around the town and talk about it’ like we even had a tour of the shitty public highschool of the area and say their production of ‘how the grinch stole christmas’ in like july.
in my last year i ended up becoming ‘friends’ with my music teacher because i was completely socially excluded thanks to some bs. wed walk around the oval on his duty days and talk about how much we could sell the galahs in a tree for.
my class did a production for assembly that was legit ‘cinderella meets abba’ and it was just cinderella but instead of the actual music we sang abba songs. i got to sing ‘money, money, money’ as pre-ball cinderella btw and rocked it.
we had factions/houses and for some reason we did full on hogwarts style ‘five points to red for picking up litter’ and we had collection boxes and wed read out the weekly winner at assembly and the overall winner got free ice-creams at the end of the year. i never realised this was weird until i found out no other school in the area did it like that.
we had an area of bush behind the library that was just free space to fuck about in. but like australia??? snakes??? it never came up for some reason
also we had school tadpoles in a pond
the area of bush was where the graduating classes (plus the year 5s from my split class) had an end of year bonfire??? and thats in summer??? firebans??? theyre a thing we didnt pay attention to. also this was kept a complete secret from other years like we year 5s were sworn to secrecy in order to be allowed to participate.
Looking back my old school was weird af.
Our school song had a line ~bring a smile and a hat but don’t you bring no gun~
Just to be clear this is Australia where gun ownership is a lot more regulated than in america so it’s really weird.
Also a teacher and I had a plan to capture and sell wild birds and get rich.
