Not good. Not good at all. Ling was not prepared to deal with this. It isn't like he doesn't know how to comfort people. He does. He's just...not the best at it. He usually tries what his old man or Lan Fan would do to help him whenever he had an episode, but it's still difficult because he doesn't know exactly what Edward needs.

His first real instinct is to hug or touch him in someway or another. It usually is when he sees someone in distress, especially someone who's a friend. He's also always been big on physical affection. Words can come after.

Instead of going for a hug outright, Ling reaches a hand forward and gently brushes some of Ed's golden bangs out of his eyes, then proceeds to gently wipe away some of his tears. That shouldn't be too overwhelming compared to a hug (although Ling is more than ready to give one if his friend wants it).

Ling's voice is soft when he finally speaks. "There, there. It's alright."

He doubts the words will have any affect because of how basic they are (words weren't always his strong suit), but he hopes that the tone of his voice and his touch will help in someway.

When Ling said: "It feels like the biggest 'reward' I got after returning home was more space at the palace." He didn't know what reaction he'd get.

Maybe some sort of 'oh, good for you!' Although, if he got that response it would probably be more of a sarcastic congratulations rather than a genuine one. After all, what really was more space at a palace? He lived in it his whole life so it didn't seem very special anymore. To people who didn't live in one, he thought it would be kind of a bigger deal.

Of course, one of the downsides was that with more space, it opened more areas for (wannabe) kidnappers and assassins to come in through. They were horrible at their 'job' though, and never once succeeded in anything.

Nevertheless, considering who he was speaking to, he thought there would be at least a little awe. Apparently not. Ling huffed and decided to do a reverse move, or whatever the Amestrians called it, and he gave a wry smile to his companion.

"Well, if you don't think it's impressive then perhaps I'll restrict you to the very basic areas if you decide to come by. It can be rather boring being in the palace like that."

Listen I Love an enemies to friends dynamic. As mentioned earlier as well I REALLY Love a siblings type relationship, this girl desperately needs a guiding hand LMAO.

Starting as enemies and then ending up so close they're like sisters??? God the more I think about it the more I love it tbh. It would obviously take a lot of work because Susie isn't exactly the easiest to befriend? But she loves and trusts So much once you earn it, yknow. She feels so lost sometimes so to have a sister figure like that would be really beneficial to her I think.

She would also go insane for the cookies. She loves a free food, she loves a dessert, she loves a free dessert made for her LMAO. ))
