Basically: someone claimed to be two women of color living with HIV, presented themselves as an expert, and collected donations. Turns out they were a white person without HIV the whole time. Also they wrote Hamilton fanfic about HIV which I guess started the whole thing?Ā

haha its weird so many of the aesthetic/band/stim/podcast blogs i follow were homestucks at some point, yet many of the youtube/tv/video game heavy blogs have no idea what it is?
That makes sense, it seemed like such a huge thing, but even at the height of its popularity it was more of a subculture thing? You wouldnāt really have heard of it unless you frequented sites where it was really popular (and in tumblrās case, unless the groups of people you followed were into it too ^^;; Blogs based around mainstream youtube/tv/video games would probably have been pretty isolated from it)
I remember back in 2012 I got a shirt with Dirkās hat logo on it and a heart aspect hoodie and Iād wear them around all the time thinking so many other people would recognize them, but that whole time on a college campus of 30,000 students, maybe like......3 people came up to talk to me about it lmao
