“I watched my guards reincarnate cycle after cycle, unaware of their circumstances or that I was always the one to call them back,” sighed Chaewon, watching the comparably-tiny Jungwoo and Ahsung jostle each other to stop Jiwon, “This is the first time in 500 thousand years that they were aware of their original incarnation. He was pissed I reincarnated him into his current physical state- I only pointed out he had made poor decisions outside my control.” Yoori shifted uncomfortably, before mentioning that ‘if Chaewon controlled time now, how did she gain the human form’ and Chaewon explained the story of Seunggi’s girlfriend again. (I knew the story because after all, I am liquid time, I knew all the stories of an individual from one look, sans the immortals.)

“I’m not wrong in inferring the king is Seungryong then,” Yoori continued after a short, polite silence, with a finger pointed at the enraged monster in the far end of the room, “He did give off the regal vibes though, I never could put a finger into it.” I folded my arms, watching Chaewon admit this with a small bow towards ‘her liege’. Inwardly, I wondered if this was the reason why Chaewon had been so unnaturally invested in affairs of Kyeongyoung before his death, or at least seemed very interested in his Chosen artefact. Though, I was unsurprised that the way Chaewon stated ‘my liege’ was oddly sarcastic, as if she was resentful of her circumstances (rightfully so, really). As Seungryong began to overpower the many Chosens from his hall, the ground under us started giving way and I leapt, just as Yoori grabbed my shoulders with her claws and began flying downwards.
