❛ i get that trust doesn't come easily up here. but you can trust me. ❜
it was a leap of faith― that was what preston called it. when nate had finally sat him down and asked why he hadn't just popped him one once those raiders in concord were down. he knew now that preston wasn't that type of man― but after everything he'd seen, after everything he'd been through― nate wouldn't have blamed him if he did.
but preston had put himself out there one more time despite everything that had been taken from him, he put his trust in nate to help him and the others in there time of need; and now the minutemen were reformed. they were a steadily growing force within the commonwealth that was not to be underestimated.
nate wasn't expecting something like that to happen again, lightning didn't strike twice, well― maybe it did during radstorms; but maybe a little bit of faith could go a long way. true he had a lot to lose now, more so now than before going into that damn fucking vault― but to be gained, well that was something preston would urge him to take.
looking @atomd over, nate fought against the louder voices that would hollering at him later at night, and stepped aside so she could pass freely into sanctuary, signaling for the men to open up the gates. “ ... just a fore-warning, if an old lady approaches you about you scoring her some jet or other drugs― don't give 'em to her. we're trying to get her off it. ”
