She had always been captivated by the macabre, the gory and ugly, broken bones and blood staining the floor. 

Only she was coming to the conclusion she was a romantic and just never knew it because she had never before witnessed such a captivating creature making a man bleed and beg for mercy. And what made it that much better was the fact that she had only asked Maria to keep an eye on their guest while she made a phone call. She hadn’t had an inkling she would come back to see this.

Like a shark stalking its prey, Asuka approached her carefully to not startle her and make her stop, committing everything she saw to her memory. The way Maria moved her hand, never hesitating, gaze intently fixed on their now-shared victim, eyes wide with curiosity and something dark and never pity… Asuka had never felt prouder of anyone, but the emotion was heightened by another, something she couldn’t quite name. 

When she was so close that she would soon be noticed anyway, she murmured, “You seem to be enjoying yourself.”

Maria lifted her head, first looking almost guilty, but after taking in her lover’s expression, grinning wide. “Oh, yes, I never knew it’d be this fun! I should have joined you sooner.” 

“Yes, you should have. It would have made my day much more pleasant if I had your beautiful face to look at instead of this dog.”

“Oh, shut up…” she said but was clearly pleased by the attention and praise, like she always was, blushing gorgeously. 

Asuka smirked and stepped closer, guiding Maria’s attention back to Miguel with a hand on her waist. Standing by her, she prompted, “Continue. Only harder. Make him talk for me.” 

The louder screams made Maria flinch, and Asuka held her tighter for it, but other than that, she was a natural, not letting the pleading eyes or cries get to her. She was ruthless, and oh, what a waste it was that Asuka never knew this side of her. The things they could have done together if... 

“Alright, stop, please!” Miguel panted, interrupting her train of thought. “Please! I’ll talk, just stop! There’s a plane… coming to Francis in two hours…” 

“Oh,” Asuka breathed out in her ear, caressing her hip, “good job, Maria… You’ve been very helpful today. Do you want to stop and let me get the rest?”

She stood so close she could hear Maria swallow heavily. “No, Asuka.”
