i feel like because im the oldest, i should have a big, important role in his life and not just as an older sister. But from what i’v studied and experienced with him for the last few years, i realized (with his extremely close bond with my dad) that he needs a man to look up to, to mimic, to learn from and baba isn’t always there. he works every day, all day, and when he’s not there, my brother is then locked in his room every day, all day. he doesn’t pray, doesn’t have the patience to do or learn anything new (in terms of his deen), and although he asks me about some things, he won’t tell me everything. i’m not even that wonderful of an influence already like my brother is heading into a critical stage in his life while i feel like im in some sort of mid-life crisis and technically im not even doing shit yet, so what im trying to say is if you’re an older, wiser, feminist, not patriarchal-ly crazed, God-fearing Muslim man hit ya gurl up because God knows i worry about him. I want him to have a good male influence in his life most of the time.
