I saw your post on Galateaâs asteroid and was wondering if you could do an interpretation of Pygmalionâs asteroid as well. My sun and mars are 8° cancer and asteroid Pygmalion is 9° cancer (12th house), so I was wondering how I should interpret that. And just in case it matters, asteroid Galatea in my chart is 15° scorpio in my 4th house.

In Ovid's Metamorphoses, Pygmalion is a gifted sculptor from Cyprus. Unsuccessful with the women around him, he resolved to remain unmarried and instead poured his devotion into carving an ivory statue of his ideal woman. The statue was so lifelike that he fell in love with it, gave it gifts and treating it as if it were alive (sounds a bit familiar, huh?). During a festival for Venus, Pygmalion prayed for a bride like his ivory woman. Venus answered by bringing the statue to life and giving her the name Galatea. IN MY OPINION Pygmalion can represent in your chart a) the fine line between what is your ideal vs. reality, b) what you idealize, c) where you desire control in unpredictable circumstances, and/or d) where you receive divine intervention.
i encourage you to look into the aspects of pygmalion along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of pygmalion AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede pygmalion!
