Like when I started using the tag, it was just that... a fun tag because I had done that with other characters in the past (different nouns used that matched the characters, obviously).

Boy, did you stumble into the wrong blog for so many reasons.

The biggest being that is not my wheelhouse anymore. These are pirate-infested waters now - been this way for over half a decade at this point... So either you’ve been away for a long time or you’re just looking to troll...

I’m guessing the latter. Either way, your ask was never getting published here. Mainly because while I may have moved on to bigger, better, more irishy and piratey things, that particular fandom still lurks about in all their heated glory and there’s no way in hell I’d subject my notifications to... all the mess that would stir up.

So basically we were so damn lucky with captain swan, we got to witness their evolution as enemies, allies, enemies again, allies again, tentative friendship, realization of “damn it I think I might like him/her” Killian’s sureness of his love for Emma and then her realization that he was in for real. And after that there was never ridiculous fights or doubts, or unnecessary soap opera dramas. It really was ouat’s highlight, if there was a relationship well written in the show it was captain swan ❤️

Captain Swan really is one of the best canon ships, if not the best canon ship, in fandom history. Because, as you said, the majority of ships out there just... don't end up being canon, or if they are, it doesn't last or has the 'soap opera drama' that you mentioned. It's very, very rare that you get a ship like Captain Swan, where not only are they canon, they are endgame and they are treated as a main focal point of the series they're in. They were never used to bait the audience, they weren't used to push ridiculous love triangle tropes (there was the brief stuff with Neal, but since we know Emma was always going to end up with Killian, I don't think that counts). The will they/won't they was brief, and once they were established as a couple, they stayed that way.

It's certainly one of the things Once got very, very right and why I personally don't understand why some people act like it wasn't. I'm not saying people can't feel that way, I'm just saying I personally don't get it myself. Because as someone that has had ships that were audience bait and then never followed through on, or ships that were canon in one medium and treated as pointless romantic garbage in another, I know that I'm never gonna get better than Captain Swan. Not just because they were endgame, but also because their canon storyline hit so many milestones that so many ships never ever get. We got to see it all with Captain Swan, and what we didn't see has been referenced or explicitly implied by the context of the story and that is amazing.

They are the ship of dreams and they are the reason why I'm convinced I'll never truly ship anything else again. Because when you've already got perfection right there, why bother with anything else?!

So basically, one of the few people I actually enjoy watching on youtube had an incident where she injured herself getting out of the shower and it inspired me to write some CS fic...

There's not much to it at the moment, but here is a little snippet of what I have written:

It only rings once before he answers.

“Swan, if this is about the rest of my things, I can be by in the morning. It’s been a long, bad day and I’m quite tired-”

Gingerly shifting and stifling another yelp, Emma tries to rise up to her feet. The world spins abruptly and she slams her hip against the bathroom counter. She can’t keep the small cry from releasing as pain blossoms out from both her head and her side with the impact.

“Swan?” He tone goes from tiredly annoyed to mild concern. “Is everything-”

“Killian…” She squeaks out. “I need…” She squeezes her eyes shut and lets out a full blown sob. It does nothing to help the pain in her head, but she just can’t seem to help herself.

“Emma!” There’s full blown panic in Killian’s voice now. “What’s happened? Are you hurt?” She can hear rustling from the other end of the phone.
