It was easy to get four stars and a bounty.
As Jack so kindly pointed out often enough, all one had to do was step foot in a military base. Your worth was sure to skyrocket, even with only two toes in. What Jack didn’t account for, however, was that while the military base was close by at the time and very much an option, Ryan hadn’t actually even entered it to have a reward placed on his head. It hadn’t even been something he had meant to start, either. He was just driving, trying to get where he needed to be when he needed to be there. It hadn’t been his that fault the cars had come to an abrupt fault, or that they had begun piling up around him.
It might have been slightly more his fault that he stepped outside to start gunning down the innocents, though.
It was passing the time, really. Being late was already guaranteed, there was no reason not to enjoy his time while he waited. Had the cops not shown up, he would have been quickly satisfied before moving to a car further up in the traffic to take off in. They had to come, though, had to make trouble, and suddenly it was a game of how many officers could he nail before they hit him back. The answer was never actually found; he had forget to count in his haste to shoot them all down quickly and precisely. Ammo was valuable, after all.
Now his files were corrupted again, though, and Geoff refused to pay them off for him again. It was his own fault, he had to deal with the repercussions. The bossman couldn’t go around carrying him through this every time, he had reputation. They money wasn’t a problem, Ryan would have dealt with that quickly from his recent cuts, but Mr. Ramsey was having none of that either.
Which was how he ended up standing in front of the home of the crew’s layer, Joel Heyman. Anyone with a home office worked a lot, above average, Ryan himself could display that. It felt cold, being there, as if it should have all been one big office building instead. The quicker he explained his story, though, and forked over the cash to have his file wipe, the quicker he could leave.
