An adult autism diagnosis can be such a relief for people who spent their entire lives thinking something was wrong with them. Spending their lives being called a freak, crazy, and worse things that I'd rather not put here. We're none of those things. We're autistic, and we're awesome!

I didnât ask for this
they call it being Hyper-empathetic. itâs a symptom of ASD. they explained it like a broken slider. it changes based on the situation, one problem the slider might be to the left or to the right, but usually somewhere in the middle. when you have ASD there is no middle. only one side or the other. either all the empathy you can give or complete detachment. for me itâs stuck to the left, all the empathy. sometimes I think of how much easier it would be if I just didnât feel that at all. dare I say it. but feeling nothing sounds better that feeling everything. I didnât ask for this. I didn't ask to feel the weight of the world without being able to help. I am atlas had he been crushed. feeling and seeing everything is not a gift, but a curse. I didnât ask to be consumed by emotions that aren't mine. to be exhausted with trama I didnât have. âoh you would be a great therapist, you always have such great advice and are so willing to listen.â they donât see it. They donât know. I feel the pain they do. To see and feel an event unfold, as if you were a silent witness. Watching helplessly. having my hands bound by the bonds of time. I didnât ask for this, none of us did.
