Replayed tgaa with a couple of friends and found out asolock was a thing. Am loving it so far Sholmes and Kazuma hooking up post canon and Kazuma subbing Sholmes for Ryu in his mind and Sholmes subbing Kazuma for Mikotoba in his mind. Kazuma & Sholmes?
Ryulock is awesome and all, and I do think it would be funny and horribly angsty and comforting all at once. However I have been introduced to an even funnier and more complex option.
Kazuma and Sholmes. Hold your applause thank you. Kazuma taking up Ryu and Susato's previous lodgings with Sholmes and it being a riot.
Kazuma and Sholmes are quite oppositional in a lot of traits. I think Kazuma would get quite fed up and annoyed with Sholmes' antics but also intrigued at how much Sholmes has seen Ryu grow over the past year he’s been gone. Kazuma has always been very vocal about his belief in Ryu and is glad to see how much he's grow at the end of tgga2 but I think apart of him is saddened he didn't get to witness his partner grow as he had originally planned.
His initial interest in Sholmes is comparable to his interest in Van Zieks. Both people who got to experience a period of time with a loved one that Kazuma himself was not able too. Genshin with Van Zieks and Ryu with Sholmes.
Kazuma burns anytime Sholmes mentions Ryu talking about him, even if its a snarky comment "your quite different than how Mr. Naruhodo painted you to be Mr. Asogi"
This came to mind based on this fic, you should 100% read it, this author does amazing things with Kazumas character after tgaa2.

Now how does this play into homumiko? Don't ask me right now I'm exhausted but be 100% sure Mikotoba does not take the news that Sholmes slept with essentially a family member. Not son because I think Yujin and Kazuma's relationship cannot be summed up into that. They are family but its less tangible than a title.
Just as a heads up ryulock, homumiko, asoryuu, and asolock (kazuma x sholmes) all take place in the same universe just different times. Homumiko being the longest relationship at 12 years ongoing (open relationship at current), asoryuu still pining post canon, ryulock fwb during tgaa1-2 (and maybe post canon if I feel like it), and asolock fwb post canon until asoryuu. A rudimentary timeline but just to get the foundation set for now. God Sholmes really is a whore in my eyes.
