3. What book are you planning to read next?

I really wanna check The Strength of the Few (sequel to The Will of the Many) before the year ends, but now I’m halfway through Lonesome Dove I realize I might need a palate cleanser between those two beasts. I’m due a reread of The House in the Cerulean Sea for my book club and it’s a short, fun read so that’s probably what I’ll pick up next! What about you?

35. Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated:

The book I’m reccing this week, A Separate Peace by John Knowles. I’d say it is less underrated and more an overlooked novel, often overshadowed by other classics like Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird, and never acknowledged by its peak dark academia aesthetics (Secret History usually steals the spotlight but it came much later). ASP is a brilliant read and I wish more readers would engage with it beyond the usual lens, but also looking at its queer and psychological layers.

Fourth Wing, Babel, probably 90% of the fantasy books being hyped on TikTok these days lol

Oh my god I really really wish i could help more but fruit is... so hard? WHY is fruit so hard??? Admittedly I only like Some Fruits and I’m allergic to apples which used to be my favourite, so I’m a sad sack of a person about this.

Okay, tips/advice that I may or may not follow successfully myself, lmao:

- buy fruit that doesn’t need preparing. Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, peaches...

- try tinned, dried or frozen fruit. It lasts longer and can change the taste/texture in a way that’s quite nice. Frozen fruit in particular can be mixed in with porridge or defrosted in the microwave and dumped on yoghurt/granola. Just so you know, though, the dried stuff tends to be more concentrated and as such, higher in sugar- still delicious and great to eat, but worth being aware of!

- juice and smoothies can count as one of your five-a-day, but only one, no matter how much you drink. Still, they’re delicious, and having a glass of smoothie or juice with a meal is a great way to sneak a portion in.

- find ways to make fruit more exciting. I like to eat strawberries dipped in nutella or apple slices with peanut butter (at least, I did before I developed oral allergy syndrome out of nowhere...)

- try and include fruit with meals? This is easiest with breakfast, but you can also try viewing lunch as like ‘a sandwich AND fruit’ as opposed to ‘a sandwich and I might eat some fruit later’.

- set yourself a daily goal for a certain amount of fruit and celebrate in some way when you hit it!

Then again, you can also have vegetables as snacks if fruit is difficult. Carrot/cucumber/celery sticks are great, especially with hummus or another dip.

hello you gorgeous smol birb!!! thank you for such an interesting and thoughtful question. The writing I’ve been posting lately is a new kind of experiment for me - I used to only post more concise poetry or prose pieces, easily rebloggable w/ no “read more”s. My more recent work is the kind of stuff you’d find in my journals. It’s also, quite honestly, stream of consciousness.

I may not have an overall plan when I begin the piece, (hence the “bumping” tangents, a phrasing which I love) but I usually have an overall theme or mood I’d like to try and address. Sometimes it’s the second or third time I’ve written on a specific topic or mood, so I may have narrowed the path of said tangents. And sometimes, in writing about a mood or overall moment, I learn more about myself by what tangents I associate with it.
